@ericfisher Always appreciate your insights Eric. And thanks to everyone on this thread for a thoughtful and civil conversation. What a nice change!
Now if only a cold front would blow through and drop our dewpoint…
@momshieb@davidwade Does the fact that so many of the frontline workers in education are women impact how unimportant school infrastructure is to so many taxpayers, politicians, etc. If it were mostly men, would it be the same?
In my 20+ years experience in public schools, it seems to.
@davidwade Misguided belief that climate is the same as it was 50 years ago.
Aging infrastructure. Is it cost effective to retrofit old buildings?
Many school buildings are used year-round, despite not having air conditioning. My 60 year old building was used all summer without A/C.
@socialstudiestx@ClintSmithIII Any particular genre? In historical fiction, I really enjoyed several of Ruta Sepetys’s books recently. For nonfiction, “An Immense World” by Ed Yong.

@fasc1nate Beautiful spot we visit every time we travel to #Ecuador. The trail is carved into caves in the cliffs through some very tight spaces to get to the vantage point from which this photo is taken.
