Everyone has a right to freedom of speech but scaring or intimidating kids while they’re learning at schools should be, and soon will be, illegal.

You can be so open-minded your brains fall out, or so closed-minded your brain shrivels. Let's do neither.
#Ukraine is a giant crime scene for crimes against humanity, right now. This isn't Nazi-occupied Europe in the 40s. It's happening now.

During his victory speech Tuesday, Kinew said young Indigenous people and those of all backgrounds who are struggling can change their lives for the better.
"But here's the thing. You have to want it," he said.
"If you want to leave the party lifestyle behind, it has to be you to make the decision. If you want to join the workforce, get a new career, it has to be you to take the first step. And if you're dealing with some kind of illness and you want to find healing, it has to be you to decide to move forward.
"I can't do that for you. A government can't do that for you."
But he said the government can help, if someone takes that step.
👏👏👏

It's like its the early 1930's and vicious antisemitism is on the rise, except this time Jews like me will not suffer in silence. It's time to take it to the next level before the antisemites do.
“Members of Donald Trump’s team are quietly preparing to go on offense against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as internal campaign polling suggests his expected third party bid could draw more votes from Trump than President Joe Biden in a general election.” https://t.co/T2MX4tNjXP
ABC decision to axe VEC keeps looking worse.
- Mayor refuses to comment
- City won’t release the cost to shut it down
- a “business office” will be set up in city manager’s office, but no info on who will run it, budget, when it will start, or what it will do
Mayor Ken Sim and ABC council getting roasted on LinkedIn by Vancouver clean tech sector over this move. Big step backwards. if ec dev is such a priority, why wasn’t this brought to council with a detailed plan for what’s next?
Most Canadians — and many past Liberal supporters — think Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should resign instead of leading his party into the next federal election, a new poll suggests. https://t.co/bRxJl7hkIp
A note on the #GreenbeltScandal, as an urban planner.
When you become the governing party, you cannot do whatever you want. You are bound by laws, regulations and policies - and there are clear processes in place for changing these policies.
Land use planning is bound by the Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) in Ontario - which is a regulatory framework. For example, when a change to land use is proposed, it is necessary to demonstrate conformance with the PPS. You will often see this at the beginning of Staff Reports and at the Ontario Land Tribunal when a change is proposed - the report or the hearing begins with an analysis of whether the proposed change is in conformance.
These policies and regulations exist to protect the public from Brown Envelope Planning - developers who are friends of the Premier handing the Chief of Staff of Housing Ministers envelopes outlining the land they want changed. There are processes in place to make changes. These processes, too, are outlined in the PPS. The process does not involve brown envelopes, but it does involve public consultation on the proposed change.
You don’t get to change your land use because you are a friend of the Premier. Democracies with low trust in public officials quickly begin to decline. It becomes a vicious cycle. Other developers who have been following the rules quickly realize that they should instead invest in some rather inexpensive brown envelopes.
Now that we know what we know, accountability matters.
Skytrain continues to be an unmitigated success. More asap please. Let’s finish the Broadway line to UBC and then loop down to 41st all the way to Metrotown.

Starting June 1, BC’s minimum wage will go up to $16.75 per hour, making it the highest provincial minimum wage in Canada. With over 150,000 British Columbians benefitting from this increase, we’re working hard to build a brighter future for everyone. https://t.co/YrwCejzVu2
People without homes in BC deserve our support – which is why we’re purchasing the Super 8 in Courtenay to provide both a safe place to stay and wrap around supports to help folks get back on their feet again.

What is wrong with the @BCNDP's Premier @jjhorgan? He should be kicking #GlobalWarming in the teeth, instead he underfunds any semblance of fighting global warming. #Unions do nothing to stop him, in fact they appear to be the culprits in damning the earth to an untimely end.
It is way past time for this kind of "talk". Gov't must regulate us out of our cars by providing robust & free transit and bike paths that people feel safe on. You are talking while #BritishColumbia literally burns and is now being washed away. #bcpoli#GlobalWarming
Still wondering about our #supplychain issues. Wonder no more! Bigger ports & ships were a myth all along only intended to create monopolies that don't actually work efficiently.
