Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has arrived in Baghdad, where he was received by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.

President Barzani will take part in this evening’s meeting of the State Administration Coalition, joining leaders of Iraq’s major political parties and representatives of the country’s five presidencies.

Discussions are expected to focus on national political, security, and economic developments.

After many years of hardship, Syria now has a historic opportunity to recover, rebuild, and prosper. I expressed my confidence in President Al-Sharaa's vision and my belief that, under his leadership, Syria can advance toward greater stability, prosperity, and a brighter future for all its people.

I reaffirmed our support for a stable and united Syria, where the rights of all ethnic and religious communities are protected. We also discussed the importance of Syria playing a constructive role in advancing regional peace and security.

On July 24, 1923, the Treaty of Lausanne was signed, reshaping the Middle East and sealing the fate of the Kurdish people.

The treaty replaced the 1920 Treaty of Sèvres, which had recognized Kurdish rights to independence. Lausanne reversed that, removing the Kurdish name and political rights entirely.

Greater Kurdistan was divided across four states: Türkiye, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. A fifth portion, "Red Kurdistan," fell under Soviet control.

Since then, Kurds have remained the world's largest stateless nation.

Such a huge loss - RIP Senator Lindsay Graham - such a huge friend to the Kurdish people. He is mourned from Washington to Erbil and beyond. RIP to a selfless public servant.

I often criticized Lindsey Graham. But this weekend, I learned his full story:

- Orphaned young, he adopted & raised his little sister instead of letting her go into the system.

- Grew up dirt poor, racking balls in his parents’ pool hall.

- In search of opportunity, he joined the Air Force. Served 33 years. Retired a Colonel.

- Then spent decades in Congress, earning respect across the aisle.

- Bashed Trump hard in ~2016, then respected the will of the voters, and grew to become a loyal ally.

- Humble. Devoted to his constituents.

- Driven by patriotism (even when misguided). Never in it for the money. Could've cashed in any time like most of his colleagues.

- That Disney trip everyone mocked? Just a good uncle taking his beloved nieces. He smiled through (and ignored) the hate to protect his family.

RIP to a self-made American original.
