Some journeys are less about ticking boxes and more about how they are shared.
It was a pleasure hosting @YiRaipur in #Akaltara. We climbed #DalhaPahad and then had the perfect unwind at the ancestral home of our founders, a place that has seen over a hundred years go by.
An hour of drama, captured in just two pictures.
The patience of House Geckos is a virtue.
They make it seem like nothing is happening, but they’re always moving. Even the waiting is timed with precision.
Your own home, more likely than not, hosts moments of wild craft too.
Isn’t evolutionary remodelling fascinating to observe? You don’t have to go far to see it; sometimes it’s right outside your window. Otherwise, just step out, and you might spot a bat roosting tree.

Did you know why most bats prefer hanging? The answer lies in their femur bones, they are too delicate to support the bat’s weight while standing, so hanging becomes far safer and more efficient than perching.
There is an exception: Desmodontinae, the subfamily that contains the Vampire bats. Vampire bats have stronger femurs, which also allows them to move about quadrupedally.
The Red Avadavat, common across India, once seen stays seen in the mind.
On @berctrails, we often lean on the door of nomenclature; once opened, it reveals a whole new world. Which wildlife names have captured your attention? Let us know!

Our director, @iAnupamSingh, has been featured in this @NatGeo story by @prasen_yadav alongside molecular ecologist @uramakri, which explores the rare Simlipal black tiger and what it reveals about the state of tiger conservation today.
As the tiger population has been on the rise, conversely, the corridor forests connecting the larger islands of protected areas have shrunk. This has led to a modern day, active threat of inbreeding amongst tigers isolated in the island forests.
Through these experiences, we aim to bring people closer to the wild while supporting the protection of these landscapes and the species that call them home. Read the full story to see how science, research and collaboration are shaping the future of tiger conservation.
Pluck. Toss. Snack. Repeat.
An Indian Grey Hornbill puts on its evening show in a bustling urban setting. Accessing wildlife doesn’t always require remote jungles or expensive gear, mostly, all it takes is a keen pair of eyes and ears.
