9. Why I think Roglic is training at the Giro, Part 2. You might say, “There’s no way he can win the Tour—so just focus on the Giro.” But I don’t think he believes that—and we’ve got to respect it. His dream is to win the Tour. He’s won everything else, but he’s missing the biggest one. He must know he needs to level up, and maybe he believes this strategy will help. Don’t forget—he looked unstoppable in every Vuelta after the Tour. That logic makes sense. The other part is psychological. Champions like Roglic thrive off chasing goals that seem impossible. From the couch, this challenge seems nearly unachievable. But that low probability of success? It’s probably exactly what motivates him most.
8. Why I think Roglic is using the Giro to train for the Tour part 1. “Okay, Tom—so why is Roglic training at the Giro when he needs to win the Giro because he can’t win the Tour?” Well, I think the answer has two parts. First, as a Grand Tour racer, no one here comes close to Roglic. He’s in a league of his own—and if you don’t believe me, just look at his results. He rarely misses the win. His biggest rival in this Giro? He already crushed him at Volta Catalunya. I think with his ability, he can start the race at 80% and ride in a low-stress way, finishing in incredible form for July. I also think he can still win the Giro this way, since it’s unlikely the others will be able to follow him when he goes all in later in the race.

With Berlin the team adds a great climber to its roster who, despite his age, is still relatively fresh to cycling.
Berlin can ride GC in mountainous stage races & can get stage/one day results if its hilly. A great asset to the team.
