Last week BEST welcomed @AdrianBethune to deliver a thought-provoking talk about wellbeing in education. I appreciated his tremendous insight into what approaches actually work, how a culture of shared responsibility is key and the focus on evidence 🙏

Mindfulness is at the heart of everything we do at BEST - and our offering extends beyond the classroom, too.
Parents and carers now have the chance to explore the practice with online courses hosted by our BEST Mindfulness Coach Will George.
Today our #mindfulness course for BEST Parents and Carers begins with a lunchtime and an evening programme
We practice ‘waking up’ from life on autopilot, becoming present with everyday mindfulness and training the mind with meditation
Looking forward to welcoming parents☀️
The UN General Assembly has named 21 December as World Meditation Day, recognising that "the wider dissemination of information about the benefits of meditation would be beneficial for the health and well-being of people around the world".
@MindfulNationUK will host a live practice w/ Prof Mark Williams.
The 165 @BedsSchTrust staff who have trained in mindfulness will be familiar:
Mark Williams co-wrote the course book w/ @DrDannyPenman and he has guided us through many hundreds (if not 1000s)of meditations!
Last week, BEST leaders joined the Compassionate Leadership Event - an inspiring day focused on the power and potential of compassion in education. A range of expert speakers facilitated deep reflection on the possibilities at all levels: personal, relational and organisational
This guy scanned monks' brains.
He expected normal results.
But what he found had never been seen in scientific history.
The discovery landed him on Time's 100 Most Influential People.
Here's what 30,000+ hours of meditation does to your brain:
Maggie has inspired many leaders and staff across BEST over the last 4 years to develop mindfulness and compassion as a core part of how they work and live. It’s great to have her continued influence as a member of the board of Trustees.
#TrusteesWeek comes to an end today, but we've just got time to squeeze in introducing you to another one of our trustees, @FarrarMaggie
Swipe to hear about Maggie's life as a trustee, including how she has become an important link between the board and our mindfulness work.
Mindfulness leads across BEST were back together again today for our latest strategy group meeting.
An engaging session started with another airing of our new trust mindfulness video, before colleagues shared the progress schools were making on their individual pathways.

Many raisins were eaten (slowly and mindfully!) as part of .b and Paws b sessions for students and .b Foundations for staff - part of the @MiSPcharity curricula taught across @BedsSchTrust at @lva_info@PixBrookA@GothicMede
This week, pupils and staff explored the ways our minds often behave on ‘auto-pilot’ - missing the good ☀️ & magnifying the bad 🔎 …
The mindful eating practice teaches us how to intentionally reconnect with the present and be here, now - the art of living fully.
Families of @lva_info pupils gained insight into mindfulness at BEST at a special introductory talk last week.
Our Mindfulness Coach Will George spoke about the whole-school approach and how they can support their children with their practice at home
@BedsSchsTrust@MiSPcharity
In their latest session with BEST Mindfulness Coach Will George, Year 3️⃣ pupils have been 'training' their attention 'like a puppy'.
We also turned our 'torchlight of attention' on the feeling in our bodies.
The children described themselves as feeling calm, happy and relaxed
Parent/Carers also registered their interest in learning mindfulness to support themselves, and their children, with our family mindfulness learning offer - coming soon.
If you are interested please get in touch here or at [email protected]
Parents & Carers gathered to learn about the whole-school #mindfulness approach at Langford Village Academy this week.
Very encouraging to hear parents' feedback; children are bringing practices home with them + sharing with family 💙 + much interest in Parent mindfulness (cont)
