@farspacehunter How is it an observable fact? Why would many horticultural societies be matriarchal and matralinial? What about women's biology makes them so oppressable?
@AnaBrowndgs7@radish_24 No heirarchy is a strict binary. All oppression is distributed to some degree along a gradient. Revolutions tend to happen when members of heirarchies feel they can't rise, so the lowest rung of the oppressing or the highest run of the oppressed. Their collaboration creates revs.
@AnaBrowndgs7@radish_24 The criticism was that "Communists don't talk about X" and the response is "here's a book that talks about X." If you say Marxists don't talk about X, you should probably read the Marxist book about X.
@DogPlayingPiano@hcetamd Idk where this idea that it's easy for 6' guys comes from. I'm 6'2 and I'm a fucking loser. It's really more your general vibe.
@AnaBrowndgs7@radish_24 It's usually the lower status members of the ruling power who cause revolutions. In France, it was lawyers and Bourgosie. Slave-empire was ended by proto-king free holders. It's not pity, its mutual oppression by different degrees. Revolution isn't a pity part, it's a war.
@AnaBrowndgs7@radish_24 What uncomfortable truths are you referring to? What direct action are you referring to? Marxism is open to new thought and development. But, it sounds like your analysis is that gendered oppression is a trans historical, mystical force or biologically determined.
@AnaBrowndgs7@radish_24 And no, I don't think the fact it's a male author matters. All successful revolutions occur when the members of the ruling class coordinate with the oppressed. Members of oppressed classes often don't have the freedom to deconstruct the power structures that oppress them.
@AnaBrowndgs7@radish_24 The criticism was about what Marxists do, I provided and example of Marxists not doing that. The point isn't that it's authoritative but rather that it's a central part of the Marxist canon.
@inkfycreates@ConsortOfRanniW I think it's likely that women experience discomfort when they have to turn a guy down, and this gets immediately interpreted to "this is injustice and society should stop it from happening" without every really considering the second order effects from this statement.
@inkfycreates@ConsortOfRanniW You're not understanding. They're not upset that it didn't end successfully, the women themselves say, "approaching me romantically in this setting is inappropriate and should not be allowed to happen." But they also say that about every other setting.
@JJ_McCullough Until Israel stops violating every single norm of human decency every single fucking hour of every fucking day, you just don't get to complain about antisemitism. Sorry, that's just how it works. When Israel is a historical entity, I will once again resume listening.
@JJ_McCullough Quoting actual Israeli Zionists engaging in the real crimes supported by the Israeli government is now anti-semetic. The lengths to which you'll go to make Jews the only possible victims is astounding. Israeli literally leveled Rafah, they're torturing a doctor to death in jail.
The dumbest people alive continue to project moralism onto materialist analysis. They did not have a "good reason" in any moral sense, they existed in material conditions and social relations that insentivise certain behavior to benefit them. They did/do it for a reason.
@radish_24 Marx wrote multiple giant books about how and why Capitalism and class oppression exists. Do you really, truly think he supported it because he explains it's cause and origin?
