I do understand that if he hits you with his pull/heroic might he can easily get 2-3 swings at you which depletes a ton of health.

If he’s not at full-health, then you have a chance to take him yourself (just get behind him and swing). You can also dodge his abilities if you’re out of stamina from blocking as well.
