Facial reconstruction of a 5,000-year-old man from Sunzhuang, Henan Province
The individual belonged to the late phase of the Yangshao culture, which was distributed across the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River.
Based on the classification results of the measurements, the main physical characteristics of the male Sunzhuang skulls can be summarized as follows: the cranial form is high-vaulted and narrow. The minimum frontal breadth averages 64.66, indicating a narrow forehead. The nasal index is 50.33, corresponding to a mesorrhine (medium) nasal type, while the orbital index is 75.90, indicating a low orbit type. The palatal index is 79.82, corresponding to a narrow palate.
The zygomatic–nasal angle, which reflects upper facial flatness, ranges from 144° to 154°, with an average of 147.25°, indicating moderately high facial flatness. The total facial angle is 81.50, corresponding to a mesognathic facial type, while the mid-facial angle of 87.50 indicates an orthognathic midface. The alveolar facial angle is 67.00, indicating strong prognathism of the alveolar region.
Compared with males, the female group shows a slightly broader nasal type and a somewhat broader palate, while the remaining traits are largely similar to those of the male group.
The Sunzhuang group clusters together with the Yangshao and Dawenkou groups. Based on these characteristics, the authors conclude that this population belongs to the Asian Mongolid group, with the closest modern comparison being South Chinese populations. (Zhou Yawei, Zhang Xiaoran, Gu Wanfa, 2021)
@Terenceshen It's a good thing there's a standard for calculating GDP and it's also a good thing that GDP totally matters without taking into consideration, purchasing power parity
@SteveHiltonx This is bullshit. Gas is not that high in California right now. It's about 5 1/2 dollars. The complaint is not about the absolute price. It's about the relative price. It went up for everybody.
@WarrenVsCCP yeah but you forgot to mention these people own their own home, no property taxes, have 3 squares a day, near free healthcare, a meal at a sit down restaurant can cost less than $1, etc.
@Vrilzynski don't you think some populations gravitate towards some sports vs others? so no you can't expect equal distribution.
and hasn't the chinese weightlifting team been dominant in that sport in the olympic for decades?
@LostManJoon@kangminlee my wife, who is s. korean, said her textbooks as a kid depicted n. koreans as monster-ish, i.e. drawn looking not fully human and scary.
my grandparents aren't korean but east asian. they never used whitening creams in their life. they are ghost white. so was my ex. so am i. some are just like that. whitening creams also don't bleach your skin, they just reduce melanin production same as if you stayed indoors.
Koreans are not white, even if they are naturally pale. Koreans have a different undertone, and if they mix it with those whitening creams it becomes ghost white not natural at all. The left picture is real white skin
@RnaudBertrand I believe it was different during the Qing Dynasty, however. I seem to recall, reading many thousands of taels of copper and other metals being paid to Qing as tribute
