Launched the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme's business support component, disbursing more than Sh3 billion to over 122,000 young entrepreneurs, each receiving KSh25,000.
Also, I have directed Government financing institutions - the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Uwezo Fund, Women Enterprise Fund and Kenya Industrial Estates - to create a dedicated NYOTA Growth Product to provide additional financing to enterprises.
Additionally, I have urged the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council and county governments to consider a two-year business permit waiver for the beneficiaries of the programme.
These are clear testaments of what this programme can do, proving wrong those who dismissed KSh25,000 or KSh50,000 as "too small to do anything".
To further support our young people, I have directed the Ministry of Co-operatives and MSMEs Development to establish a national NYOTA identification mechanism to enable beneficiaries access Government services and incentives seamlessly.
With the disbursement of the second tranche, each beneficiary will have received a total of KSh50,000 to boost or start a business, making NYOTA one of Kenya's largest investments in youth enterprise.
Thousands of small businesses across the country have been given the much-needed financial boost to expand and thrive. This was abundantly clear from the uplifting stories of success told from every corner of the country.
Signed into law the Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill, 2026, establishing a national investment vehicle aimed at preserving wealth generated from Kenya's natural resources and strategic investments for future generations.
The new law is a historic milestone that will ensure the country's prosperity endures beyond the current generation.
With this consequential law, Kenya has put in place watertight mechanisms that will ensure the resources attained from strategic assets and natural resources endure for generations.
The Sovereign Wealth Fund serves as a guarantee that revenues from petroleum and other valuable mineral resources are not entirely consumed by the present generation but are invested to benefit our children and the children of our children.
The legislation establishes three key windows under the fund: The Stabilisation Fund will cushion the economy against external shocks, the Strategic Investment Window will finance national development projects and create jobs, while the Future Generations pillar - Urithi Fund - will invest a portion of petroleum and mineral revenues for future citizens.
Under the law, 30 per cent of revenues from petroleum and mineral resources will be channelled into the Urithi Fund, with the remainder supporting economic stability and strategic investments.
The Sovereign Wealth Fund becomes the second major financial institution created under the Government's economic transformation agenda after the establishment of the National Infrastructure Fund in March 2026. This fund is designed to mobilise private capital for development projects.
South Africa offers citrus, avocados, stone fruits, wines, and macadamia nuts—all now zero-duty under the CADEPA framework.

It is profoundly heartbreaking to witness another surge of xenophobic violence in #SouthAfrica this week. Hundreds have marched on Parliament, thousands of families have been displaced, and lives have been tragically cut short.
These include at least five Ethiopians killed earlier in the attacks, and five Mozambicans who died in Mossel Bay. Thousands more are now fleeing for their lives.
To see South Africa turn to xenophobia is a tragic betrayal of the country's struggle for independence and freedom. African nations stood united to dismantle apartheid. Ethiopia proudly supported "Madiba," Nelson Mandela, in 1962 and issued him a passport so he could travel the continent. Other countries helped in many ways, including with political and financial support.
Disagreements and grievances must be addressed by the justice system and the rule of law, never through vigilante violence and collective punishment.
South Africa deserves better. Africa deserves better.
Stop the hate. Protect the vulnerable. Uphold our shared humanity.
🫶Justice and Progress can indeed be achieved without more killings, vandalism and bloodshed. Godspeed to all affected...✌️
