What started as a conversation about fulfillment quickly turned into a deep spiritual discussion. She shared openly that she used to be a Christian, but walked away and began studying hoodoo and voodoo instead. She said she didn’t trust the Bible because it was “man-written,” yet trusted voodoo books written by men — and that contradiction opened the door to truth.

We talked about the difference between the soul and the spirit — how the soul is the mind, will, and emotions, but the spirit comes from the Creator. She believed awakening came through meditation and higher consciousness, yet admitted she had never encountered the Highest Power. That’s when I shared my own testimony — how I searched through spiritual practices and religions, only to realize none of them brought life, peace, or freedom. Everything changed for me when I had a real encounter with Jesus. I was delivered, filled with the Holy Spirit, and finally experienced the love and power I had been searching for. The clubs, drinking, and spiritual practices were all attempts to fill a void that only Christ could fill.

When that truth was spoken plainly, the atmosphere shifted. The conviction was heavy. She became upset and chose to walk away from the conversation. But even when people leave, the seed remains. Truth was planted, and only God knows what will grow from it.

While evangelizing at a mall in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I met a young woman who identified as they/them. As we talked, she opened up about one of the darkest seasons of her life — how she once wrote a suicide note, a goodbye letter, before heading to a Christian camp. But when she got there, everything changed. She had a powerful encounter with God that completely shifted her heart. 🙏

She shared how being bullied for loving Jesus led her down a path of pain and confusion. The Holy Spirit led me to speak truth and identity over her — reminding her that she’s not a mistake, that she’s deeply loved, and that she’s a daughter of God.

I prayed for her right there, breaking off every lie that said she wasn’t enough or that her past defined her. God’s love filled that moment. She smiled, thanked me, and said she could feel peace again — something she hadn’t felt in a long time.
