Cybersecurity Awareness Month Tip #4: Update Your Software Regularly. Update software on all devices, phones, laptops, etc. when an update becomes available (personal and university owned). It's also important to update applications, especially web browsers, on all devices.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month Tip #3: Use Two-Step Authentication. Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will protect you from hackers! BGSU uses Duo Two Factor Authentication as an MFA method. ITS suggests using an MFA method to protect your personal accounts.

Phishing is an attempt to access your personal information through an email, text, phone call. They seem real, but something is off. If you receive a message that seems suspicious report it to ITS & forward the email ONLY to [email protected].

Cybersecurity Awareness Month Tip 1: Use strong, long, unique passwords. It can take a hacker as little as 30 seconds to guess an 8-character password. We recommend you create a password with at least 16 characters, and you use a different password for each application.
