Thank you to @GoldingtonAcad for inviting us to a friendly debate competition last night! Our Year 7 and Year 8 teams had a great time and did a brilliant job of representing the school. #BGSEnglish#BGSYear7#BGSYear8
#BGSYear12 and #BGSYear13 Literature students have combined their collective knowledge about Austen’s novel, Persuasion, this morning for an active revision session ahead of internal and external exams this summer. #BGSImaginative#BGSEnglish
“There to meet with Macbeth” - #BGSYear10 rounding off their study of ’Macbeth‘ this morning with a VR session exploring some of the key scenes in the play! #BGSEnglish
We’ve been getting #BGSImaginative in #BGSEnglish, with a Year 12 Literature students taking part in a Persuasion themed bake-off! As Austen said, “Go and eat and drink a little more, and you will do very well.”
Huge congratulations to our #BGSBold debating team who took part in the first round of the ESU Mace competition yesterday evening. The judges were impressed with all 3 speakers and the girls have made it through to the second round in January! #BGSEnglish
We’re excited to welcome prospective families to find out about #BGSEnglish this morning at Open Morning. A few of the English teachers have found a quiet moment to pick up a book while we wait!
I think it’s fair to say that the #BGSYear12 Literature students have fallen in love with Jane Austen’s Persuasion ❤️ We cant wait to welcome Year 11 to join us for taster lessons next week! #BGSInspired
'How long will he remain, how long
Have the grey woods been green?' (Vernon Watkins; The Heron)
An unexpected visitor at school during lunch time today, causing quite a stir! I wonder what creativity he might inspire this afternoon? #BGSThinksDifferently
#BGSYear12 IB students have been exploring the key concept of transformation by producing poems based on ‘Bonjour Tristesse’, a French novel studied in translation.
#BGSYear11 had a go at some found poetry this morning, using their study text 'The Whale Rider' as a source text. The lyrical nature of the prose makes it a great choice, and this task helps us see the text from a new angle. #BGSThinksDifferently
Happy #nationalpoetryday2025! Here’s a glimpse Of what’s been going on around the school today🤩 We’ve been #BGSImaginative, planning a Verse Quest all over school. Victory is its own reward, but a little sweet treat doesn't hurt!
#BGSYear7 are developing their speaking and listening skills, trying to develop their writing from a character’s perspective. We are being #BGSInspired by our learning about Malala in #BGSEnglish to explore how to use our voices for good!
The first Debate Club of the year - our most-attended session yet! It’s great to see so many students being #BGSBold and using their voices in such a positive way!
And, finally, an inspired comedic performance of Pyramus and Thisbe from our very own Mechanicals, 7TDB. What a fantastic morning it has been- we love Shakespeare! #BGSImaginative
7CAB‘s excellent performance included lots of misunderstandings and tricks. All of the characters are well and truly in a muddle now… how will they figure it out?
