Iran didn't just wake up and say let's do this.
To pull this off you need state competence and capacity. You need massive investments in science and tech including research. You need an elite consensus to want to build the nation no matter the cost.
Nigeria can never pull this off not because of corruption.. we just don't have the element to pull it off..
We lack state capacity or competence, we lack the educated workforce especially the engineering skill, most of all we lack the elite consensus needed to make it happen.
Do you know how crazy this is? Like you’ve served the richest black man on the planet for over a decade and he didn’t even rate you guys enough to cede even 0.1% equity for you all in an employee share scheme pool. Do you know how insane this is.
This video is from the ’80s, at the tail end of the industrial boom of the ’70s. The fundamentals that led to the failure of this and many other factories still exist in Nigeria today & in some ways, things have gotten worse.
Rather than do the hard work of making Nigeria competitive for manufacturing, successive governments took the lazy route: import substitution. The result? The high cost of production is simply passed on to you and me.
That’s why I SMH when I see people blindly support import-substitution policies in the name of patriotism.
This article is spot on, but there’s one other reason why Messi hate has spread like wildfire this World Cup:
~15 years ago with the GOAT debate at its peak, hundreds of millions of young fans worldwide picked CR7 as their idol while he and Messi went band for band.
And the battle was legendary.
But for the past decade, Ronaldo fans have watched their GOAT slowly decline while an aging Messi remained on top of the world, surpassing Ronaldo on individual awards and lifting the game’s most prestigious trophy, which Ronaldo could never get near.
Ronaldo’s millions of supporters now roam social media like a leaderless army who has lost the war.
With the debate on the pitch settled and Ronaldo’s legacy capped, his fans desperately undermine Messi’s achievements in a futile attempt to close the ever-widening gap between stars.
And I don’t blame them.
But that is why, as football fans everywhere enjoy the glittering sunset of Messi’s unparalleled career, millions of Ronaldo diehards are reduced to complaints about referees and TikTok aura edits from 2017, while they watch a little boy from Rosario forever eclipse their childhood hero and take his rightful place as the greatest footballer to ever live.
Everything about the 2022 Qatar World Cup was perfect: the songs, the atmosphere, everything down to the closing ceremony.
I'm so glad this was the tournament that Messi won ❤️
FIFA’s decision to legitimise chaotic clowns like IShowSpeed is a big reason why so many moronic, social media-driven narratives gain traction during the tournaments and how it now seems they have even lost control .
It’s all done for marketing and money. But by inviting all kinds of internet personalities into the mainstream, FIFA has opened the floodgates for moronic things to fester .
The relentless hate campaign against Messi and Argentina reminds me of how Pep’s Barca was also targeted and tagged Uefalona. People just can’t fathom that level of greatness and dominance.
sometimes i wish messi would play into the theatrics after being fouled like they accuse him of doing, because imagine the outrage about this if the jerseys were swapped
Argentina probably win it on pens if Enzo doesn't commit the most illogical foul in football history. But it is what it is. Their thuggery got them here and their thuggery lost them the final.
