Nobody gets elected or ejected from Congress based on college sports. The hearings they have are great opportunities for soundbites to pander to their local bases, and the lobbying dollars keep flowing every year.
There's no urgency to get anything done on this because saying there's a crisis in college sports doesn't make it so.
The Trail Blazers have laid off over 50 long-term team employees today, including some from their media team, as new owner Tom Dundon implements more cost-cutting measures on the franchise.
Dundon is also still exploring hiring a head coach for the cheapest possible salary.
