Even on half term we are always thinking about fun new repertoire to teach our @BGPrep girls in the #kodaly way. Attending L2 Methodology with the fantastic Lucinda @KodalyUK. Looking forward to using this traditional French song to experience triple and quadruple metre.
Our @BGPrep Year 6’s performed their #blues compositions today. A half terms work studying the origins of blues music, the 12 bar blues and AAB form lyrics culminated in some fantastic performances!
Not music related and wearing my Assistant Head hat, it was a privilege to take our Year 10 & 11 @BrightonGirls and @WimbledonHigh#brightnwhimsy students to @OneGardenBtn for a day of #Sustainability lectures and project work.
We have had an amazing morning with our academic scholars from @WimbledonHigh and @BrightonGirls at One Garden in Brighton learning about sustainable gardens including: drought tolerant plants, medicinal gardens, hydrophonics and urban gardens.
This fantastic book and poster written by @N8Holder and @TheWhyBooks is now sitting proudly in the library and we are looking forward to learning more about these very talented women again soon! #kindandbold#brightongirls
It was great to share the music of Florence Price with the @BGPrep girls today in assembly. We listened to and learnt some body percussion rhythms that form the basis of the Juba Dance that inspired the third movement of her Symphony No. 1 in E Minor.
Using a nursery rhyme in KS2 can be useful as long as it has the right level of challenge. Here are our Year 3 @BrightonGirls preparing for triplets with a double handed pattern to master alongside the rhyme #kodalymusicianship
This is why I ❤️ #kodaly! Our Year 4 @BrightonGirls worked on rhythm, aural dictation and composing this week all through singing and games and afterwards they said they’d never had so much fun! #kodalymusicianship#kodalymethod
Thank you to @brightoncm for coming to speak at our harvest assemblies this morning and for giving us such an inspiring message about “radical generosity”. #kindandold @BrightonGirls
By Jove they’ve almost got it! Fantastic effort by our @BrightonGirls Lower School Choir today on this Caribbean favourite, Four White Horses. Not only a tricky clapping pattern but a syncopated melody line too… no easy feat 💪🏻 #thesegirlscan#kodaly#musicianship
Very proud of the school band who did an expert job of serenading the school with a bit of @ladygaga this morning at our @BrightonGirls leavers assembly. Can you guess the song?
There’s nothing more fun than learning a dance to practice a principle (thanks #kodaly!) @BrightonGirls Year 1&2 are working on their steady beat (and their dance moves) with this Mexican Stick Dance! (Music credit: Mariachi Vargas - Los Machetes) #wheregirlslearnwithoutlimits
We know our girls are talented @BrightonGirls but sometimes they work on a little something by themselves that absolute blows you away. These Year 6’s did just that today in our end of year talent show #wheregirlslearnwithoutlimits
Making beat and rhythm work fun @BrightonGirls with the Year 5’s this week using this #kodaly favourite. This is a Japanese children’s song called “Omochio Tsuki Masho” - never underestimate the importance of a steady beatkeeper! #wheregirlslearnwithoutlimits
Proud of our Year 6 @BrightonGirls who gave a fantastic performance of the #WizardofOz this week to the Year 5 girls in their bubble. So pleased that @wizardvideo captured it all so we can share it with parents too. The final cut looks fab 👌🏻
Year 6 and Prep Chamber Choir sounding great in their rehearsal for the Senior School Carol Concert this evening. Come and see them perform at 6pm, All Saints, Hove
