Afghan @BritishCouncil teachers were immensely brave to teach English & 'UK-values' in the strict Taliban state of Kandahar (pictured). While some have now been relocated to the UK, approx 20+ are still in hiding in Afghanistan, with a further 25+ still waiting in Pakistan.

Free from fear! After over 2 years stuck in hiding in Afghanistan, or waiting in a hotel in Pakistan, 'Ali' is at last safe in the UK, & able to get on with the rest of his life. It's been a long road to safety for the former @BritishCouncil teacher. #AtRiskTeachers

Great news for the Afghan @BritishCouncil teachers relocated to 🇬🇧 on @GOVUK flights during December. They did great work for us across Afghanistan & have waited over 2 years to get to safety. Many of their colleagues remain stuck in hiding in 🇦🇫 & 🇵🇰. @FCDOGovUK #AtRiskTeachers

Afghan interpreters lives should never have been put at risk in this way. It's good this blunder has been publicly recognised & addressed.

Sadly @JohnHealey_MP is right, the #ACRS & #ARAP schemes have been under-resourced & poorly managed from the start. 2 years after the Taliban took power so many of our allies are still stranded, either in hiding in Afghanistan or stuck in hotels in Pakistan. #AtRiskTeachers
