a "companion" roller that follows you while you change holes and set tees. If someone can deliver a fleet of autonomous rollers for $100k, the current players will be nothing more than a Wikipedia entry.
Food for thought: I just got a $50k quote for a new electric roller. It’s a simple machine with a lithium battery, yet it costs more than two electric UVs (like the Club Car Carryall 500) that use the exact same battery tech.
The industry leaders are at risk of becoming the "Kodak" of turf equipment. They are pricing themselves out of the market while ignoring the real game-changer: Autonomy.
Imagine a fleet of small, autonomous rollers hitting the greens at 3 AM as the dew settles, or
Did we manage to go through 8 versions of @RainBirdCorp Stratus without noticing that 270°arc Precip. Rate was calculated wrong?!! 🤔 It multiplies 360° arc with 1.5, should be 1.33! In this video it should be 20.23, but Stratus calculates 22.82!!! Cirus Pro uses correct formula
How classic Iceland this is: I manage one of the courses they played, and my wife is the GM if the Hotel they staied at 🤣 "stunning championship condition" they say. You should come and try it

We are looking for a Turf Equipment Manager. If you are looking for a new adventure in the coolest city in Europe (pun intended), might want to look at this job ad👇
@garvoca73 What this refers to is if you have ample amounts of an element in the soil, and no deficiency observable you don't need to apply that element. E.g. potassium, although important to the plant, at 100 ppm in the soil, there is no evidence to support application of K.
Our TEM is heading for new adventures so we are looking for a new turf equipment manager. If you are interested in a new adventure in Iceland, drop your CV and cover letter to me at [email protected]@TETOrganisation@reelturftechs

@DerekSheffield We have been trying Kress this year. So badly I want to change just a few, but important things in the app. But the machine does for most parts well. Not as good on our frost heaved areas as the single disk models, but that's not a big problem for most.
@DerekSheffield Fairway irrigation is not such a frequent event over here. Just a brain fart 🤓 but the odds one would be directly on top of the sprinkler when it started are pretty low, but never zero! Especially since we only have a centerline, so just 8 sprinklers on the entire fairway.
@DerekSheffield I'm still not convinced on the larger types like Ceora. I think the new 580 is a sweet spot. It uses relatively cheap parts and and is super light. But my 550s have been pretty low maintenance.
@DerekSheffield I've only had the Ceora on a trial. But have heard of what you are describing. I've mostly used the 550's, and the older 450. Been very lucky with them, apart from one that was on top of a sprinkler when it popped and spun on top of it for solid 9 min. It's no longer with us 😄
July starts with a nice low of 2.1°C. Club championship today plus full tee times until 9PM. Only 9 people with a booke tee time after that. Just another summers day in Iceland :)
Are wetting agents useful on native soil fairway turf? Yes, especially if they contain creeping bentgrass.
