50% of the BattleHawks’ losses since the UFL merger have come against the Renegades, a franchise that has never had a winning season. The other losses in that span— @ Michigan, @ Birmingham, & D.C. twice. Those 3 teams being a combined 26-14 with 2 UFL Championships since 2024.
First Mizzou player to join the BatteHawks since L’Damian Washington & Marcus Lucas in 2020. Perhaps more interesting, McCann has not been rostered by a football team in almost 5 years. He went 2 for 2 on FGs during the 2021 preseason with the Titans before being released.
Some notable starters I have not seen listed anywhere—
LB Willie Harvey
T Juwann Bushell-Beatty
TE Jake Sutherland
DL Freedom Akinmoladun
DL Austin Faoliu
CB Chris Payton-Jones
RB Jacob Saylors
It will be a MUCH different BattleHawks team in 2026.

Most surprising admission here is Willie Harvey. One of the most reliable & productive defenders in spring football history. 196 tackles across 3 seasons in St. Louis & has never missed a game. Huge blow for the BattleHawks defense.
St. Louis Battlehawks #UFL Player Protections:
RB Jarveon Howard
WR Frank Darby
WR Jahcour Pearson
OT Bradley Ashmore
OL Ryan Coll
DE Pita Taumoepenu
DE Travis Feeney
CB Myles Sims
CB Myles Jones
S Kameron Kelly
It’s pretty interesting how these organizations have developed winning or losing cultures in such a short time. There isn’t much of a talent gap between these teams, if there is one at all.
The best story of the 2025 BattleHawks season for me was Pita Taumoepenu.
• 27 Tkls, 5 TFL, 7.5 Sacks, 3 FF, 2 FR & 1 PBU.
After an underwhelming 2024 he bounced back closer to his 2023 form & is considered a favorite to win 2025 UFL Defensive POTY.
Willie Harvey remains the unsung hero of this franchise.
• 58 Tackles, 3 TFL, 0.5 Sacks, 1 Int, 1 FF, 3 PBU.
58 tackles was a career low but still ranks 3rd for a single-season in franchise history. Harvey also owns 1st (79) & 2nd (59) on that list.
The biggest surprise contributor in 2025 to me was WR Frank Darby.
• 11 Receptions, 182 Yds, 2 TD (16.5 YPC)
I had him pegged as the WR7 in the preseason but he wound up playing a big role in the passing game, appearing in all 10 games. Great find by the front office.
Hakeem Butler had a tumultuous 2025 campaign, battling injuries & dealing with inconsistent QB play. In the moments he did touch the ball it was clear he hasn’t lost a step.
• 13 Receptions, 300 Yds, 4 TD (23.1 YPC)
Still a very respectable year all things considered.
Max Duggan took over as the starting QB in week 5 & the team never looked back.
• 63/110 (57.3%), 696 Yds, 4 TD, 4 INT
• 299 Yds & 5 TD on 59 Carries (5.1 YPC)
He opened up the passing game & took care of the ball much better than his predecessor.
