Fabulous news that two OAs will debut for the England test team tomorrow. And two of the nicest young men you could ever meet. Sonny and James: well done, I’m so proud of you and of King’s College. Good luck, lads!!!!!!
Mosul just did something the world forgot was possible.
Two ancient churches destroyed by ISIS have reopened. Not as ruins… but as living places of worship again.
On October 15, church bells rang over a city that once echoed with gunfire. Christians and Muslims stood together, the way they did in 1743 when they prayed side by side in this same church as Nader Shah’s siege closed in. Mosul survived then. And it’s choosing to survive now.
The Syriac Orthodox Church has also consecrated new altars and a new cathedral in Ankawa and Duhok, reshaping a region ISIS tried to erase.
This revival didn’t happen by accident. It’s part of the Mosul Mosaic program, backed by ALIPH, Iraq’s State Board of Antiquities, and French heritage groups who rebuilt stones, icons, and entire streets of the Old City.
A few years ago, these churches were symbols of destruction.
Today, they’re proof that faith, culture, and memory outlast fear.
If this isn’t a story worth sharing, what is?
What a fantastic day for a supporter of Somerset cricket and Springbok rugby. Highest T20 run chase in the finals to win the Blast, with three OAs in the match. And the largest ever defeat for the All Blacks. Now I’m just hoping that Liverpool do well tomorrow.
Congratulations to James and Thomas Rew for steering Somerset to a comfortable win over Middlesex. A great treat to see the brothers batting together. And a nice cameo from Josh Thomas at the end. King’s men leading the way!
Today, my daughter’s school is shutting down.
Why? Labour’s tax hikes on school fees & NI hikes on staff.
100s of distraught kids & parents.
A high-quality, nurturing school forced to close because of greedy, arrogant taxation.
Disgusting.
All it does is pile more pressure on overcrowded state schools.
How can ANYONE justify taxing education? Labour are destroying the very foundations of our children’s future.
What an absolute disgrace. @UKLabour
For more on this remarkable object, please consult the scientific literature, in particular the paper by the renowned German runologist Prof. Lehmann-Gahnisch.

@TheQuietPen_@CultureExploreX Really fascinating. Thank you. But not sure “westernmost point of the British Isles” is correct. Most of Ireland is further west than this.
What a fabulous day’s cricket at Taunton. Sadly, I’ve had to watch it online from a hotel in India. Could not be prouder of two magnificent King’s boys.
This photo is of my Jewish preschool class.
It was taken on Purim. I'm next to my best friend Rachel - we decided to both wear Mushroom-pattern dresses. I met Rachel’s dad after WWII. He collapsed when he saw me.
Everyone but me (and my sister) in this photo died in Auschwitz.
