You made the assumption that "the truth" being talked about is the gospel, but even then, yeah the church is what upholds and does not change the gospel. Luther did though, and evidence of that is that in his Bible he said that James was flatly against Paul and the rest of Scripture in ascribing justification to works. Luther was wrong, the church was right and upheld the gospel, so his rebellion was not legitimate. You're so dumb you can't even realise how dumb you are.
