2nd generation economic migrant, resident in South Somerset. Concerned over many of the less glamorous but important aspects of a just society. Views mine own.
A great response @YeovilCollege Fresher's Fair yesterday on YL's campaign on Spiking which really struck a cord with many.
Thank you for inviting Adam and his team. Thank you to the students for showing so much interest.

Most cars are parked for 23 hrs a day*
Thousands in Somerset wouldn't have to rely on a car if we had invested more in our public transport.
Years of underfunding from national government has brought us to this state.

The British people are desperate for hope.
The British people are desperate for change.
The British people are desperate for a fair deal.
And we are the ones who can make it happen.
So let’s get to it!
"Extending my gratitude to everyone who has been standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.
"What you are doing is truly generational!"
Thank you @kiraincongress, for your inspirational speech to #LDConf. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦🇬🇧
💷 A fair, prosperous economy
👩🏻⚕️ Strong, local, public services
🍃 A flourishing environment
🇬🇧 A proudly internationalist UK
🗳️ A truly fair democracy
Members at #LDConf have just passed our Pre-Manifesto - For a Fair Deal - setting out our plan for a better, fairer Britain.
I have had 00s of messages from Cons friends in govt, Parliament & around the world telling me this move by the PM vindicates my decision to noisily resign.
I didn’t want vindication. I hoped it would add pressure on govt to prove me & others wrong.
We need an election. Now.
Sunak has cowered to the delayers and deniers like the disgraced Liz Truss and adopted wholesale their catastrophic climate policies.
This Conservative government has done nothing but damage our nation and this would be the most destructive move yet.

“I find it shocking and really disappointing,” says @algore on PM Rishi Sunak delaying climate action. “He’s done the wrong thing. I’ve heard from many of my friends in the UK – including a lot of Conservative Party members, by the way – who have used the phrase ‘utter disgust’.”
There is a fable about a hare and a tortoise.
When you are leading the race, you don't ease back, you strive harder.
This is not long-term thinking, this is short-term survivalism.
By 2050, this government will be long gone, but the climate challenges will not be.
#demandbetter
The irony of this quote is that people in rural areas have little choice but to drive and struggle own a car because of years of underfunded public transport and lack of buses.
We know this only too well in Somerset

If you’ll forgive the shameless flaunting, (aka flarnecking), I have never had a #1 bestseller on Amazon before and it’s happified me no end. Thank you so much to everyone who’s pre-ordered ‘Roots of Happiness’. It seems we could all do with words for hope and respair right now.
Word of the day is another outing for ‘mumpsimus’ (16th century): one who sticks rigidly to their position, despite clear evidence that they shouldn’t.
