I have a lot of love for the Avatar series, and it was a delight to talk to someone who was so crucial in the creation of such an awesome magic system.

@JeSIGrAc3 The text loaded a few seconds before the photo for me. "Hmm, I wonder what it is. I'm sure it's not something I might also nee-- OH MY GOSH I NEED THIS."

[Andrea Tang @atangwrites]

Update: I won Euros! The good news is that I finally get to eat all the pizza & pasta in Italy that I want!

The bad news is that after getting my hand raised in the finals, I totally missed the opportunity to bellow “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!” at the top of my lungs

[Andrea Tang @atangwrites]

Welp, one of my main sources of monthly income is down & out for... apparently, the foreseeable future, so if anyone needs a freelance writer who knows SEO, trad pub YA/SFF, & a weird amount about martial arts & athletics, now would be a great time to hit me up 🫠

I know mma has deteriorated my brain cause I thought that mfer was in the octagon at first

Update: I won PanAms, which I personally feel means I should get extra credit on my homework

Newspapers have pretty high fact checking standards, and those standards become much, much higher for stories about men’s sexual abuse of women. When you read something like this, keep in mind there’s likely a lot of stuff that didn’t get published.

@shereaps Congratulations!!!

A NEW species of Peacock Spider, but with a sombre fate. 🌈🦚 😔

Last October, @LucynakWild, @reefcoakley and I found this incredible Peacock Spider in the dunes of Eglinton in Western Australia. The only area this spider has ever been found in is designated as a future housing development. 🏠❌

The Swan Coastal Plain is one of the most biodiverse coastal areas in the world, harbouring an immense amount of species and colours. Unfortunately, urban development has seen these dunes and other coastal habitats disappear for more and more suburbs. 🚜🌳
For thousands of years this spider and other species have co-existed in this breath-taking heathland, until we have intervened.

This year, the incredible duo of Michael Lun (photographer of this image) and Flynn Prall have gone back to the site and found more specimens. Multiple days surveying nearby habitats have resulted in no specimens. Quite a lot of Western Australia’s Peacock Spider species are short range endemics and are only found in very isolated pockets. 🕷️🦚

It is almost certain that Western Australia has lost many of these colour Peacock Spiders before they were even discovered from land clearing for agriculture and urban development. 🪓

What is going to be done about this? We seem to continuously accept the declining fates of our beautiful species.

I absolutely love how JJK goes into depth about the rules around cursed techniques and domains but I understand very little of it and am mostly here for the vibes

[Averi Clements @BJJaveri]

JJK makes me crave a shounen anime that puts the main friendship trio through absolute hell in the first season and then gives them nothing but silly friendship adventures and everyday Normal People problems and nothing bad happens to them ever again, amen.

Erberth Santos arrested for rape, unfortunately not surprising as there's been rumors of this for some time. Looks like he confessed to it as well.

I do not wish for Billionaire MMA Fight but I do wish for the damage that a Billionaire New Blue Belt Ego Problem and a Billionaire Untested Zero-Stripe White Belt Ego Problem could inflict upon each other

a thread of furudate-sensei's "best scenes"! they were asked to choose their favorite scenes/lines for the haikyuu chronicles, so here's that selection w/their comments. please note that some comments may be shortened here but you'll see it all in full in the final doc

[Averi Clements @BJJaveri]

@atangwrites This was definitely my super annoying realisation when I got my super early morning job, too 😭

I cannot stress this enough: always assume popular combat sports athletes are right-wing and Trumpy unless proven otherwise.

[Averi Clements @BJJaveri]

I cannot tell you how often I am in this situation with spiders.

Bird nests made from anti-bird spikes! 🤯 Even for me as a nest researcher, these are the craziest bird nests I've ever seen. Today my paper came out on this rebellious behaviour. And it's like telling a joke...

A thread. 🧵
