The main issue is that 2K has a large staff on the engine alone i assume, and EA's was done by a separate studio than the devs of madden and others. SDS is smaller than them, and they maintain the engine themselves

The Show literally might be either handcuffed by ancient code, which i think it is as said "improvements" have been incremental instead of all at once
