Spent a few weeks learning about @PGH_Hardball, a baseball program for underrepresented youths that strives to be so much more than a baseball program.
Many come in thinking baseball is their only way out. Hardball shows them more opportunities.

Black history is baseball and softball history. From the legends of the Negro Leagues—Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, and the Homestead Grays—to trailblazers in softball like Toni Stone, Mamie Johnson, and Connie Morgan, Black athletes have shaped the game and inspired generations.
Yet, Black participation in both baseball and softball has declined, and we are committed to reversing that trend. Through affordbale training, travel teams, college recruiting support, and academic enrichment, we strive to create pathways for Black athletes—and all underrepresented players—to succeed on the field and beyond.
This Black History Month, we honor those who paved the way and reaffirm our mission: to provide access, opportunity, and a future where baseball and softball reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. The work is far from finished.
