@GovKathyHochul showed up to Sunset Park and not only used MLK legacy but also Sunset park community as pawns to push her conservative judge. And the worst part was she brought police with her and kicked out a respected, afro-latina leader who belongs to the church. #NoLaSalle
@broseph_stalin Yeah but why aren’t you talking about the part where Zohran is pushing privatization of public housing. as a tenant organizer, tenant takeover is great but i’m not selling out public housing. no socialist should. That’s the bigger story here. NYC needs public housing to be public
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement We would not have ballooned to the 78 billion number if BY state dems didn’t also neglect funding NYCHA and pretending that only the federal government funds it. yes it funds majority but Albany and city budgets have funded PACT up to 8 billion
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement Not everyone lives on twitter. i’m not ignoring you but just do the math, if Zohran put 2 billion of city budget, section 9 received about 1.3 billion for repairs from federal gov this year. albany needs to just add another 700 million. Hochul funded PACT for more than that.
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement Just to make it easier for you to comprehend, the MTA repairs are estimated at 68 billion. nobody asks for fully funding that immediately or that we need to privatize the MTA to fund it. and we don’t say well don’t give the MTA 3 billion this year because they need 68.
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement You can see though in Zohran’s policy lnguage on website, it’s already rebranding neiliberal policy of selling off public land in NYCHA to private developers. thats been a policy for decades called infill/various other names, one that’s been highly opposed.
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement often i see people who don’t actually support public housing use the 78 billion number to mean that NYC and NY state should never fund section 9. I remember clearly when Build back better bill was pushing for PH funding how these same people weaponized the 60 billion number
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement This is a really lazy argument about NYCHA repairs that totally distorts the situation. Nobody is proposing repair all of NYCHA complexes at one time with one single 78 billion dollars. But that number used to just 10 billion not long ago. zohran said he double
@ideologicalized@nodisplacement Zohran doing exactly the same for NYCHA as Eric Adams and trying to rebrand is pretty ridiculous. Don’t spin neoliberalism as anything but that. There’s been almost zero accountability of PACT private developers.
@phara4assembly@saoirsefashion But this is assuming that newer housing stock is built nicely. i’ve seen worse apartments less than 15 years than 100 year old buildings. You can’t just assume new equals better quality in fact often it doesn’t. Housing is more complicated than underwear.
@briebriejoy in critiquing PTA obsessed folks, seems like the issue as well is that they are ignoring the brilliance of sinners. and some are but also a lot of people loved both. Comparing films just because they are in competition for some golden statue, is ultimately unfair for both films.
@briebriejoy I get it PTA glazing is annoying but that become the reason to hate the film and not the film itself. It’s funny how this video that’s 50 minutes long dissecting all the meaning in the film demonstrates it’s dealing with ideas that 99% of hollywood films don’t.
@SandyforCouncil@GreenwoodRIP One issue with this is that green burials don’t need to have any new tech, you just need health soil and environments and let the process happen. Often times these speeding up decomposition tech isn’t really necessary. There has been a lot of these gimmicks over the years
@SandyforCouncil@GreenwoodRIP What legislation where you trying to do on green burials for city council? Here’s the documentary I
co-directed on the green burials movement and following several advocates. https://t.co/IGSXWJCZZN
@SandyforCouncil@GreenwoodRIP From spending years with green burials advocates, there’s a lot of misconception that there’s legal issues to doing it. Most states that really not the case, it’s more about cemeteries and funeral directors not doing it because they are unfamiliar or not aware of it.
@NYCSanitation@NYCMayor Got to get these plows over to 4th avenue bike lane in sunset park, the lane is totally unplowed for stretches in the 30’s and 40’s. so bad that pedestrians can’t cross street without walking into traffic. Cop cars obviously are in way too parked in lane.
@BadTakeEnjoyer@katewillett Well you live up to your name! Just serving up more bad takes. Section 8 and RAD is privatization. Section 8 pays more because private landlords get more money and also can charge more rent to residents. eviction rates are higher in section 8, less tenant rights than sec 9
@SockDem_@skip_strike@nicolegelinas You don’t really follow data i guess. Prices skyrocket from tech boom. Austin is expensive and also not even on that chart mentioned. https://t.co/1YfjgYfCx5
