AI is a major threat to Equity. Unless algorithms are built to center nondominant voices, AI will reify dominant culture. Why? Most of the algorithm builders are told to focus on dominant trends bc that’s where the money is. #systemicracism#capitalism
@KnicksFanTv No. Absolutely not. They don’t need to dumb down the game, protect player egos or make it faster for the audience. Certainly not to expand anywhere that watches cricket. Broadcast partners, on the other hand, would love it.
Concerned that this is an awful “people” decision. This team functioned as an interdependent group. Removing even an unimportant thread can unravel a weave. ..Or demoralize a group. This is not how you show appreciation for sacrifice & struggle and I’m concerned it blows back.
If you know me and my takes on Mitch over the years, yesterday's take shouldn't surprise you.
Yes it's probably a good business decision. Good basketball decision? Time will tell. Not buying the idea that he's so easily replaceable at all.
We know the weave now is the best out there. Pulling threads - even imperfect ones that could be improved - risks damaging the threads around it even if you could replace it. And pulling them now for a competitive landscape too far out to anticipate is irrational for a champion
@IanBegley Don’t forget that the Cup and Finals bonuses he got last season and can expect to get some or all of again next season. He may be giving up 200k in the QO but he’s looking at a reasonable shot at 1.5Million again as extra, non-cap related basketball income.
@TheCohencidence@morelikemensa Let me add one bit to this - signing with the Knicks comes with a realistic possibility of 1.5M in bonuses for the Cup and Finals, making the .21M difference btwn QO and Vet Min less of an issue
@brock_aller “Would” is doing a lot of work here. If it’s a practical, cost vs benefit consideration, he should. 140M postseason rev, MSGE stock skyrocketed and Team Value increase justify costs. Repeating will drive more value. It’s not financial. It’s something else. “Would” he? Who knows.
@xavierjdesigns Makes me wonder 1) how predictive regular season is of post-season performance 2) how frequently inconsistent regular to post seasons are and 3) whether inconsistency btwn regular season and post season, or even post season performance itself is predictive of future post seasons
Mel Brooks is 100 years old today! Many people think that Mel is my father. He isn’t. But what he is is one of the great comic minds of the last 100 years. Happy birthday Mel, from your fake son.
Hey Dane, I think @xavierjdesigns would be a perfect guy to bring on your show to talk about how LaMelo fits into the context of the Wolves. Xavier’s pod about the trade was so detailed & insightful. I think it would make for a great pod! @DaneMooreNBA@KyleTheige@CoopCarlson
No he can’t - but he can threaten to not pay the salaries of two key free agents and throw tantrums about the 2nd Apron if they don’t agree, and guess what’s happening now???!!
@DannyMarang I’m from out of state (NY - Go Knicks), but I’ve been here 20 yrs. This dude is a carpetbagger. Acting like you can threaten to just up and move the franchise is a gross misunderstanding of the market and the NBA Ownership agreements. But it’s the disdain for the fans I find odd
In addition to telling the story of Serling's life and work, the book has modern storytellers like Gullermo del Toro, JJ Abrams, Steven Spielberg, Ben Stiller, Rian Johnson, and many more talking about the huge infuence Serling and Twilight Zone had on what they do.
@FredKatz@capcity73 The problem lies with history. And with a gross overstatement and misunderstanding of probability and how to express a probabilistic concept using categorical language. But not with Becky, by gum!
