Every year my March Madness attitude goes from "Yay, I picked the right teams for once" to "I hope everyone else just crash and burns like I just did" real quick.
After a CRAZY past few days
- Got offered a new job
- Negotiated more pay and a schedule I want at current job (so I can just copy/paste last year material)
- Turned down new job
- Got declined other new job
- Was told they were going to hang onto my resume for future openings
Me at restaurant: “Hi, I’ll have the ___. Thank you!”
Waiter/res: brings completely wrong thing.
Me: “Actually I ordered the ___, but that’s ok I’ll eat this.”
Waiter/res: “My mistake! I can take it back and…”
Me: “No, it’s fine! I’ll eat it.”

So tomorrow my school is officially dropping it’s mask policy. For most of my students (who choose to no longer wear a mask) this will be the first time I see their whole face. I have a feeling I won’t recognize them and ask them to cover their mouth and nose just to id them.
Student 1: "Mr. K, do you have a Valentine?"
Me: **no response**
S2: "Doesn't he have a wife?"
Me: **still no response**
S3: "No, he's not married!"
S1: "We need to get you a wife, Mr. K"
Me: **still no response**
Today a student asked me “Hey Mr. K, do you think I should sell drugs?” Then proceeded to draw a graph of how he would go about this and his profit margins.
So I'm doing something I've never done in my 7 years of teaching; I am taking a personal day to do nothing. This was, of course, after asking my boss if it wasn't too much of a burden to them.
This morning I thought to myself, “maybe I should just call in and take a mental break day.”
5 minutes before the school day started I broke up a fight.
I was correct and should have called in. #Dying#CanIGoHomeNow
