Naoya Inoue 🇯🇵 reiterates AGAIN that he's WAITING at Super Bantamweight for Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez 🇺🇸 but will move up to Featherweight if Bam swerves the smoke 💨
“In terms of weight, I can still compete at super bantamweight. If Bam wants to do it, I will wait.”
“At super bantamweight it’s basically whether I fight Bam or not. That decides whether I stay or move up.”
This is why I love Inoue. Dude is a different breed. Most American boxing and social media accounts have Bam beating him.
What does Inoue like he's done his entire career? Run towards the smoke!
Naoya Inoue shares an update on his next fight:
“I’m not fixated on fighting Bam, so if Bam says he wants to continue fighting in the bantamweight division, I'm also considering a featherweight challenge. But if it can be done around February, I’ll do it.”

@rory_fahy Navarette was already pushed out of the rankings. But I agree that Teraji's claim has been better than Nav's, even if I did view them similarly in merit, and it's why Teraji got recognized long before Nav did.
Day15 playoff bout 3Oz Kirishima (L)
Oz Kirishima (L)
Sw Aonishiki (R)
SPOILER: After falling to Atami in regular bout, Ao found a way to beat him in their playoff (I didn’t think he could do it) and now if he beats Kiri, Ao takes his 3rd yūshō. AND if not we go around yet again #nagoyabasho2026
@philhaup@rhyswithispoon I thought the same about 2026 at the start of the year, but it doesn't look like a lot of the big fights will manifest. I thought Bivol-Benavidez and Vergil-Boots were shoe ins.
