Barack and I were so honored to have @AkunyiliCrosby create our portrait for the Obama Presidential Center. Her artistic brilliance shines through — and the way she infused such life and joy into the piece is truly extraordinary. We love it, and we think everyone who visits the Center will too!
It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
The debate about British military spending begins with a premise, hardly ever challenged, that too little is spent on defence.
But the facts are very different.
Britain spends more on the military than every large economy in NATO, except the USA.
More than 13 million people in Britain are living in poverty. The campaign to cut welfare (or other key public spending) is dishonest.
They should come clean. They are willing to push poverty even higher to fund an unnecessary surge in military spending.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support that @MichelleObama has poured into me over the years. Her story — from her South Side roots to the White House and beyond — is a central part of the Obama Presidential Center.
At the Philly Pride, Patti LaBelle gave her advice to the queer community
"That they never give up, never give up, never think less of yourself, because you are the tops."
Remembering 79-year-old Franklin Agbotui who was beaten to death in an unprovoked attack by 20-year-old Phillip Fraczek in East London in 2024.
There were no riots and there was hardly any news coverage.
I do wonder why this poor man's MURDER was widely ignored by the press??
“Gone are the days when City Hall will turn its back on queer New Yorkers […] City Hall will also not back down in the face of Federal attacks against trans New Yorkers”
— Zohran Mamdani on NYC’s newly established Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs at his Mayor Pride Party.
🏆 Referee announced for 2026 #SuperCup!
We're pleased to share that Somali referee Omar Artan will officiate the highly anticipated match between PSG and Aston Villa in Salzburg.
“All-black podium was just the beginning of something that will hopefully continue to be recognizable and not just as a one-time thing.”
Jordan Chiles was part of the gold medal-winning U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the Games, she also made history when she, Simone Biles, and Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade became the first all-Black Olympic gymnastics podium after earning medals in the floor exercise final. We asked Chiles what that moment meant to her and how she views diversity in the sport.
Chiles is among this year’s TIME100 Sports honorees. From athletes and coaches to advocates and investors, see who else made the list—and read about Chiles’ fight to reclaim her Olympic medal––here: https://t.co/h8fom4GspR
Wayne Brady and Billy Porter are a match made in heaven 🤩 The actor and comedian, 54, and the Tony-winning 'Kinky Boots' star, 56, are starring as a married couple in a new production of 'La Cage aux Folles' together on Broadway. The pair are almost too charming together 💖

@pri61684@ronkelawal True there was a lot of raving music but as the ladies said Amy and Adele were inspired by them and I'd add their music wasn't club music but got acknowledged. There's definitely a glass ceiling for Black Music in the UK & you have more chance of longevity in America.
I don’t want to hear any bullshit about “legitimate concerns” and “working class revolt”
It’s working-class Black and brown people being pushed out of their homes. This is racist violence and intimidation. Don’t dress it up as anything else.
Complaining about nightlife when you *checks notes* choose to live in Soho is like living in South Kensington and complaining about the museums. Or moving to Hackney and grumbling about creatives. Living in Richmond and hating green space. It's all getting a bit silly, isn't it?
Omar Artan didn’t just make the #FIFAWorldCup, he made history as the first Somali referee to get there, and as #Africa’s best. That milestone stands no matter what. So sorry to see this, Omar. You reached the summit of your profession and inspired a generation back home just by getting there, and being kept off the pitch you earned doesn’t change that. This won’t be the end of your story on the world stage. The world stands with you as one family, wishing you resilience now and many more major finals to come. Solidarity. #Somalia
