- Keep a 10ft safe zone around campfires
- Never toss lit cigarettes

Did you know? More than 53 drone incursions occurred near wildfires nationwide in 2025 alone. Unauthorized drones create serious risks for first responders and can force firefighting aircraft to stop operations.
Capturing wildfire footage may be tempting, but flying a drone near a wildfire puts firefighters and aviation crews at risk of a catastrophic collision.
As wildfire activity increases, help protect our firefighters, aircraft, and public lands by keeping drones away from wildfires.

From forests and deserts to mountains and grasslands, these landscapes help define who we are.
Wildland firefighters work to protect these places so they can be experienced for generations to come.
As we mark America 250, we continue that commitment across the country.
Check in on your crew and colleagues.
A buddy check can go a long way. Taking a moment to ask how someone is doing shows you care and creates space for support.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, make it a habit to check in with friends and coworkers.

Nearly 85% of wildfires in the United States are caused by people and preventable.
As you head outdoors to camp, hike, and gather around the fire, let’s keep safety part of the adventure.
🔥 Check local fire restrictions before lighting a fire.
🔥Keep fires small and never leave them unattended.
🔥Clear dry grass and debris around the fire ring.
🔥Keep water and a shovel nearby.
🔥Drown, stir, and feel the ashes before leaving. If it’s too hot to touch, it’s too hot to leave.
Earlier this month, U.S. Wildland Fire Service (@USWFS) staff at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Phoenix District Office celebrated the latest class of students from Franklin Police & Fire High School to graduate from the basic firefighter training program. Twenty-three students completed training and are now ready to apply to work as type 2 wildland firefighters.
For more than 20 years, the BLM Phoenix District has partnered with the Phoenix Union High School District to provide training and educational opportunities for high school students exploring career fields in firefighting. The partnership has been one of service with an eye to the future of wildland fire.

On the fireline and beyond, mental health challenges are more common than many realize.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to challenge the stigma.
Break the silence surrounding mental health difficulties. By openly discussing mental health, normalizing getting help, and sharing stories of recovery, we can dismantle stigma and look out for your crew, coworker, or loved one.

.@USWFS remains on scene at the #MittryFire near Mittry Lake Boat Ramp 2. The fire is 70% contained, with forward progress stopped at about 184 acres. Smoke may be visible. No road or boat ramp closures. Please avoid the area and use caution near smoke.
Attention drone pilots! Flying near active wildfires is dangerous. Unauthorized drones force firefighting aircraft to ground, causing fires to grow bigger and more destructive.
Protect lives and our landscapes: keep drones grounded near wildfires.

Beginning May 21 at 8 a.m. the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Colorado River and Phoenix district will implement seasonal fire restrictions in central and western Arizona.
Fire managers reported an increase in wildfire activity, which is anticipated to peak as the weather continues to get hotter and drier in the coming months. Fire restrictions help limit activities that are common causes of wildfires.
For Stage 2 restrictions on BLM lands in La Paz, Maricopa, Yavapai, Yuma, southern Mohave, northern and western Pinal, western Pima counties in Arizona, as well as portions of Imperial, San Bernadino and Riverside counties in California, these activities are prohibited:
➡️ Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove fire.
➡️ Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building. Smoking is prohibited in all federal buildings.
➡️ Welding or the use of any torch or metal cutting or grinding implement.
➡️ Discharging a firearm, air rifle or gas gun, except while engaged in a lawful hunt pursuant to state, federal, or tribal law, and regulations. (This restriction includes the BLM Phoenix District’s developed recreational shooting sites: Baldy Mountain, Box Canyon, Church Camp Road, and Saddleback Mountain.)
➡️ Operating any internal combustion engine, such as a chainsaw or similar tool.
Fire restrictions are already in effect in other parts of Arizona. For detailed restriction and fire information, contact the nearest land management agency office where you plan to visit: https://t.co/ljwiz1juqe
