A fire at Pelican Lake Campground started from an unattended campfire that escaped the fire ring and spread into vegetation. It burned ~1 acre before crews contained it. The fire remains under investigation.
If it’s not cold, it’s not out.

A one-day prescribed burn is planned Mar 4 in the East Tintic Mountains near Vernon & Eureka. Crews will burn just under 50 acres of subalpine & Douglas-fir piles from 2024 fuels treatments. Smoke may be visible along Hwy 36 & Hwy 6, linger into Fri, and affect Hwy 36 overnight.
