The BLT Trail entrance parking lot (on Lakeside Dr.) has been blocked off by @NSLandsForestry - please walk or bike to the trail rather than driving to help maintain social distances.
Just for your information the @CanadianForces Reserves will be doing a march with full gear including weapons (#withoutammunition) on the @BLTTrails over the next two days. They will only be on the trail a short time and other users are still able to continue using the trails.
Please note that paving is taking place today between James St. to Richard. There will be truck traffic around the trail but no closures - however, please use caution.
Trail work near Hubley was completed today! The barriers should come down tomorrow morning, and the trail will be reopened for the weekend. There will be a bit of softness in the sections that were done until it dries up, so please take care.
2. The contractor has informed us that he is going to be starting work this afternoon, entering at the Five Bridges junior high entrance in Hubley. Barricades will be up informing users of the closure. The work is expected to occur between this afternoon and Friday.
1. Trail closure announcement - please share widely! We'll be doing some grading work from about km 11-13 of the trail (this is the area roughly between Silver Birch Dr and the end of the trail at the St. Margaret's Bay Rd. crossing near Lewis Lake).
We received a message today from the city that although there will be work happening around Forestglen in terms of pouring curbs, access to the trail will be maintained.
One more trail closure to notify you about - hopefully the last one in a while! The trail will once again be closed between Fraser Rd./Forestglen Dr. and Silver Birch Dr. This should begin around noon and only last for the afternoon. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Short trail closure to notify you about: we are having a leaning tree taken down between Brentwood Ave. and Maplewood Dr. this morning. Barricades will be up informing users of the closure. It will be reopened by this afternoon. @hfxgov
We're hoping to open up the closed section of trail later this afternoon (September 17) - we require an inspection by Department of Lands and Forestry. We will post as soon as it is reopened.
