Define Kuki.
1. If "Kuki" is an umbrella term, which specific tribes are included under that umbrella? Can a definitive list be provided?
Answer: No definitive, universally accepted list of tribes or communities exists under the Kuki label. While some groups are classified by others as Kuki, many identify themselves primarily as Zomi, Hmar, Thadou, or Mizo. Therefore, there is no single umbrella identity accepted by all the communities affected by the ongoing violence in Manipur.
2. If Kuki is an umbrella identity, why are major bodies such as Zomi Council, Hmar Inpui, Thadou Inpi, and Mizo People's Convention not part of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM)? Are all these groups automatically considered Kuki regardless of their own stated identities?
Answer: The existence of the Zomi Council, Hmar Inpui, Thadou Inpi, and Mizo People's Convention outside Kuki Inpi Manipur indicates that acceptance of the Kuki umbrella identity is not universal. These organizations maintain their own institutional and ethnic identities and do not accept KIM as their representative body. Communities cannot be automatically categorized as Kuki if they themselves assert a different identity.
3. Can KIM legitimately claim to represent all non-Naga tribes of Manipur? If not, what common platform, if any, includes and represents Zomi, Hmar, Thadou, Mizo, and Kuki populations together?
Answer: No. KIM cannot credibly claim to represent all non-Naga tribes when several major tribal organizations operate independently of it. Broader coalition platforms, such as the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF), Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), or Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), have brought together multiple tribal groups on certain issues. However, even these platforms do not necessarily represent every tribe, organization, or viewpoint unanimously.
Conclusion: These questions highlight an important reality: the meaning of "Kuki," its scope, and its representative legitimacy remain contested. Any serious discussion on Manipur must first clarify identity, representation, and who legitimately speaks for which communities.

Despite conflict with the Nagas, Kukis have made monetary demands in Kangvai, a Vaiphei-Zomi Village with no regard for the Kuki-Zomi Peace Agreement of 1998. This shows that they are begging for another conflict in Lamka. Kukis are unwanted everywhere.
