@VP loved your speech however, you say were the most important but majority of first responders serve years in public service. Yet we don’t have pensions or retiree healthcare. You say do your part. Let’s see it. Treat us like the military. 20 and out. Pensions. Retiree healthcare. Also competitive pay? The Military may only make 50 plus thousand a year however they get housing allowance, food allowance. So they can actually live off that money.
Michigan families pay some of the highest utility rates in the Midwest and get some of the worst reliability in the country in return. DTE has spent years dragging their feet on grid upgrades while raking in record profits and padding executive bonuses.
Now they want $242 million more from us, and the MPSC gave it to them. Their own investor calls tell you everything you need to know: $1.46 billion in profit in 2025 and crediting rising energy bills for that return.
They’re projecting record profits and still making us pay more.
Our rates should buy us better service and fewer outages – not shareholder returns. That's not acceptable.
We need real rules that force utilities to invest in what Michiganders are actually paying for.
It's disheartening to see the narrative around police support without acknowledging the harsh realities many officers face. The truth is, most police officers don’t have pensions after 25 years of service. We get nothing—no retiree healthcare, no guaranteed financial security after risking our lives daily. According to data from the Police Executive Research Forum, only about 30% of police departments offer a traditional pension plan, and even fewer provide comprehensive retiree healthcare benefits. This is in stark contrast to military members, who are entitled to lifelong pensions and access to the VA for healthcare and support.
Moreover, police officers are exposed to trauma at rates that rival, if not exceed, those of active military personnel. Studies, such as those by the National Institute of Justice, indicate that up to 15% of police officers experience PTSD symptoms, a rate more than double that of the general population. We see horrific scenes daily—violent crimes, accidents, and human suffering—that leave lasting scars. Unlike the military, where the enemy is often clear, cops go to war every day without knowing who our enemy is. It could be anyone, anywhere, at any time. This constant vigilance and the unpredictability of our work take a toll that’s rarely discussed.
Yet, despite this, we’re paid like we’re doing a routine job, not one that requires us to put our lives on the line repeatedly. The average salary for a police officer in the U.S. is around $67,000 annually, which, when adjusted for the risks and the cost of living, feels woefully inadequate. And let’s not forget the public perception—too often, we’re treated like the problem rather than the solution, facing criticism and hostility instead of the respect and support we deserve.
It’s a bitter irony that while politicians claim to back the blue, the systemic support just isn’t there for most of us. We need real action, not just words—better pay, comprehensive mental health resources, and a retirement system that recognizes the sacrifices we make. Until then, the disconnect between the rhetoric and the reality will continue to undermine the very people who are out there every day, keeping communities
There are 677 local district judges.
Under current procedure, the president needs unanimous consent from all 677 to implement a major decision.
If just 1 communist out of 677 unelected judges disagrees, the action is frozen. Nationwide.
That is not democracy.
That is tyranny.
The bill I signed today creates the Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program, which will provide signing bonuses of $5k to new law enforcement officers.
Whether you are a Florida native or from a “defund the police” state looking for refuge, we have a check for you!

No one is allowed to dine in at millions of restaurants across America and they got $0 in stimulus funding
Congress failed the country. President Trump needs to veto.
Two police officers were shot in Louisville tonight and Joe Biden is still tweeting about “justice” for Breonna Taylor
That shows you exactly where his priorities would be as president.
