Just over a month after the Chicago Bears said they were keeping options open on both the lakefront south of the current Soldier Field and in Arlington Heights for the site of their new stadium, the team announced Friday that its focus has shifted away from the city and to the 326 acre property the Bears own on the site of the former Arlington International Racecourse.
“Over the last few months, we have made significant progress with the leaders in Arlington Heights, and look forward to continuing to work with state and local leaders on making a transformative economic development project for the region a reality,” a statement from the team reads.
The Chicago Tribune was the first to report the Bears’ plans to focus solely on AH.
