As part of the African Youth Charter @20: From Promise to Prosperity Side Event, Ms. Alice Kampengele of Restless Development and @ReaganMwebaze0, Programme Coordinator, YouLead Africa, presented an overview of the African Youth Charter @20 Appraisal.

The presentation outlined the vision, methodology and expected outcomes of this youth-led continental assessment, which seeks to evaluate two decades of the African Youth Charter’s implementation, identify gaps, document good practices, and generate practical recommendations for the Africa Governance Report 2027.

Du 20 juillet au 20 août 2026, 180 jeunes de Gihanga et Mukaza, âgés de 15 à 20 ans, participent à un programme d’encadrement organisé par @ybspburundi, avec l’appui de Iragi Foundation, sous le thème : « Des vacances pour apprendre, s’épanouir, entreprendre pour un avenir sans pauvreté ».

🔹Au programme, la santé sexuelle et reproductive, le développement personnel, l'entrepreneuriat et les activités génératrices de revenus. Les participants apprennent à fabriquer des pains et des beignets, et à les commercialiser, afin de mettre en pratique les notions de vente, de gestion et d’autonomie financière.

📍💬 Selon Elvis ARAKAZA, Coordinateur de YBSP : « L’accent est mis sur la manière de se comporter et, à terme, de se créer de l’emploi. En entrepreneuriat, ils apprennent notamment à fabriquer des pains et des beignets, ainsi qu’à vendre et à gérer des activités. Ils participent aussi à des activités de divertissement pour favoriser leur épanouissement, et bénéficient enfin d’un volet de développement personnel », a-t-il indique.

📍💬 Pour Audrey IRADUKUNDA (20 ans) et Aleglesse IRAKOZE (15 ans), cette initiative leur a permis d’acquérir des connaissances précieuses. « Nous avons appris comment adopter de bons comportements pour éviter les grossesses précoces ainsi que des notions sur la santé menstruelle. Nous souhaitons aussi partager ces enseignements avec nos sœurs et nos amies qui n’ont pas eu la chance de participer à ces activités. »

📍💬De leur côté, Derrick NIYOMWUNGERE (19 ans) et Elysé IRAKOZE (16 ans) affirment que le programme a renforcé leur compréhension de la masculinité positive et de la santé sexuelle et reproductive.
🔹Après la formation, chacun reçoit un paquet de pains ou de beignets fabriqués pendant les ateliers pour aller les vendre. Et les bénéfices réalisés leur reviennent.

📌Une belle initiative qui transforme les vacances en une école de la vie et de l'entrepreneuriat.
