Green Councillor for St Neots Priory Park & Little Paxton. Promoted by Catherine Goodman on behalf of Stephen Ferguson, 138 Duck Lane, St Neots, PE19 2EQ.
Growth of what? For whom? At what cost? Paid by whom? What is the real need here, what is the most direct and efficient way for those who have that need to satisfy it? How much is enough? What are the obligations to share?
Donella Meadows, Limits to Growth: The 30-Year Update
There will be high drama at tonight’s HDC AGM, as a finely balanced hung council tries to elect a Chair and Executive Leader, who can then appoint a Cabinet and form a new administration.
There are 52 seats:
💛 Liberal Democrats: 20
💙 Conservatives: 15
🩵 Reform UK: 10
🤍 Independents: 4
💚 Greens: 2
❤️ Labour: 1
No political group has enough seats to form a majority — 27 or more — so we are looking at some form of minority or coalition control.
What we know so far:
💛💙🤍💚❤️All groups have publicly said they will not enter into coalition with 🩵Reform.
The 💙Conservatives have stated that they will not form a coalition with the 💛Lib Dems.
❤️Labour have said they will not enter coalition with the 💛Lib Dems
Anything else is up for grabs.
Tune in for the drama tonight from 7pm on YouTube, or come along in person:

Elliot Tong hands over leadership of the Green group on the county council to Darren Green. Does this perhaps mean that Elliot is taking on a new role at the city council? We'll find out on Thursday at the council's Annual Meeting.
@lewis_goodall@campbellclaret@MarinaPurkiss This isn’t tough policy. It’s a clear abuse of public power - essentially collective punishment🧵
1/. Can a government site detention centres based on how an area votes?
Short answer: No. Unlawful. Third Reichian and third rate.
If you re-elect me on Thursday, I solemnly pledge that I will not build concentration camps.
Anywhere.
Ever.
Obviously.
The fact that this even needs saying tells you how dark Local Politics has become.
For a serving St Neots councillor to suggest targeting Green-voting communities with migrant detention centres is morally repugnant, deeply authoritarian, and utterly un-British. And also probably illegal.
This Thursday, you have a simple choice:
Hope 💚 or Hate 👺
Nothing prepares you for how insane this is: In 1984, astronaut Dale Gardner used a jetpack to fly completely untethered in space and capture a falling satellite with his hands.
On a packed coach of lovely people from St Neots and Huntingdon heading to the Together Against The Far Right march in London today, #HopeNotHate@UKTogetherAll
You might describe it as the Polanski paradox. The party which calls itself Green, which has concern for the environment as its raison d’être, has never been more popular.
Four Green MPs returned at the last general election. Victory in the recent Gorton and Denton by-election. Local election gains in May predicted to be sweeping. Running second in many national opinion polls, and in the projected seat tally for the Scottish parliament.
