What young people need is adults /educators using neuroscience to understand brain development. How the brain develops processes, emotions & information. This knowledge would provide insights into what the developing brain needs most in learning, relationships & well-being.🧠🌱
Absolutely @gerrydiamond71. Being curious is often misunderstood as 'letting them off the hook'. Behaviour is parked until the young person is calm. (Achieved by supporting regulation and taking time to understand). Only then will the brain be in a position to reflect.
Being curious about pupils behaviours, does not mean that we accept that it is ok to do what they like, as some would suggest. It means we are looking below the surface to understand what might be happening in their external world that might be impacting their internal world🧠🌱
And here they are! Our 2023/24 Behaviour Academy graduates being presented their certificates by Doncaster's Civic Mayor Cllr Julie Grace & Mayoress Ellie Grave. Congratulations all! 🎊
@PastoralThings Out of office on? Know we shouldn't have but sometimes there is a need to spell it out and then there is always a response even when you don't (and shouldn't) check your emails. Take a big breath, sounds like you need it.
Where does the time go? Another successful year of the Behaviour Academy (graduation pics 2 b posted July), bookings open for next year! Graduates express - sessions have supported them in understanding behaviour and the power of relationships both in & out of school settings ❤️
Wonderful to be invited back to @lakeside_don following a classroom observation in Jan of this year. Yr 1 class teacher, Jozie Duckitt, took on board all recommendations for managing dysregulated behaviour and general class management. An absolute joy seeing her in action ❤️
This is now in our staff room as advised by Elaine @BOSSDoncaster.☺️
Trying to capture the glimmers and focus in on them to help build our children’s self esteem and encourage the positive.
