Look at this: 35 soaking wet bald ibises snuggling up with each other and their foster Moms.
The storm with heavy rain and lots of wind arrived a bit unexpectedly...
But no bird got lost. All of them are safe.

The bald ibis training was interrupted by a terrible storm. Fortunately, no bald ibis got lost. Instead, they snuggled up with their foster Moms Helena and Barbara in the middle of the airstrip. Everyone - humans and ibises - got soaking wet, but were happy in the end.

Training camp in Binningen close to the Swiss border. 35 bald ibises are trained today to follow a small plane as a preparation for their migration to Spain later this year. However, a heavy storm has ended the training earlier than planned.

@captainkeeken has arrived in yellow trousers at the training camp. Only the foster parents are allowed to wear yellow clothes, though. So Rainer had to cover up. 😁

It was a fascinating day up there on Jungfraujoch! We learned so much about high altitude research and enjoyed nature's wonders. But there's also a lot of profiteering: Often Jungfraujoch feels more like an adventure park than a mountain, with "tourist attractions" everywhere.

Through a hole in the mountain we left Jungfraustation and went for a short hike on the Aletsch Glacier while the weather was continuously changing between snow storm and being so warm we wanted to get rid of our jackets...

In the Sphinx observatory on Jungfraujoch, researchers measure concentrations of air pollutants such as SO2, NO2 as well as greenhouse gases such as CO2, N2O methane. In the "Wetterstübli" current weather conditions (incl types of clouds) are reported to MeteoSwiss 5 times a day.
