Amazing showcase of student art work by our fabulous art teacher Ms. Sullivan at our CommunityDay of scholars event! π€π@mjperkins2014@BostonSchools
In Gr. 4 we are engineering switches for our circuits out of everyday materials to get ready for our big engineering challenge. @SmithsonianEdu@mjperkins2014
Introducing: #BPSSundays! In this historic partnership between @MayorWu, @ArtsinBoston, and @BostonSchools, the BPS community can visit some amazing cultural institutions free of charge on the first and second Sundays of each month!

Assessments where students have the opportunity to receive feedback and use them to revise their thinking can support a more authentic learning environment for all students.

Wee engineers in action!π€ Today, we tested out our fan designs to see if they would move the ball across the race track. It was awesome to see how motivated Ss were to create and improve their designs. @EiE_org @mjperkins2014#NGSS#Kindergarten
@MsLeeSTEAM@DefinedLearning The challenging part was measuring the length, width and height for the different shape tanks. Some opted to go with a πΊand a π΄ but most went w/rectangle tanks. We had fun converting feet to inches. In the future, I would loop in the classroom teacher to help Ss w/this part.
On day 2, we created blueprints for our designs and conducted research on the type of plants and animals that we wanted in our aquariums. On day 3, we created our 2D and 3D prototypes! My students β€οΈ having choice in how they created their product. Thanks @DefinedLearning! #PBL
@MsLeeSTEAM@DefinedLearning Before we could create our blueprint we spent time talking about the size of waiting rooms and how big our tanks should be. We put masking tape on the floor to measure length and width and used rulers to visualize height. I also took out an empty 10 gallon tank for reference.
Today, we kicked off our aquarium designer project from @DefinedLearning! We had some interesting discussions about how professionals design aquariums and created our own designs. Keep your eyes π peeled for our final designs later in the week. ##PBL#sciencelearning
