I really don’t like this change.

Boston is special because of the standard. Running a BQ has never guaranteed entry. When too many people qualify, the fastest applicants get the spots. It’s harsh, but it’s objective.

Now someone who misses the cutoff by one second could be rejected while someone who misses it by four minutes gets randomly selected.

My first Boston was through charity. Then I spent two years getting fast enough to return as a qualifier. I’ve experienced both ways of reaching that start line, and earning my spot through time meant something completely different.

If Boston can add 1,000 qualifier bibs, great. Give them to the next 1,000 fastest qualifiers.

Don’t turn the qualifying field into a lottery.

Cannot believe the France vs Spain semifinal is 3pm on a Tuesday. A weekday afternoon. North America is hosting this World Cup. Put the final at 3pm Saturday... fine... it's the weekend. But scheduling a semi at 3pm on a workday to cater to Europe while North Americans get shafted is a joke.

And before anyone says a lot of the tournament games have been in the afternoon, that is not the point. This is a HUGE semifinal. When you host, the marquee games go in your prime time. That is how the Olympics work, that is how past World Cups have worked. The host market gets the showcase window. North America is hosting and got skipped for a weekday matinee. What is even the point of hosting?

• Balogun received a bogus red card
• VAR protocol isn't followed (no slow-mo)
• Trump calls Infantino to ask about the process
• US Soccer lawyers preapre & submit an appeal

FIFA's independent 18-person disciplinary committee then met, approved the appeal, and told Balogun he could play in Monday's match against Belgium.

That's what everyone is complaining about?

All rules were followed, and that same process is open to every other country. The only difference is everyone knows the red card was a mistake to begin with.

One of the big reasons for the current lack of patriotism and pride in our nation’s history is that about 40 years ago our most prominent storytellers in Hollywood just basically stopped telling stories about American history altogether, unless it has something to do with WW2, civil rights, or slavery. I mean they just released a movie about the meteorologist who did the weather report for D-Day. They’ll give WW2 weathermen their own movies before they tell a story from any other era of American history.

The Right has attempted to counteract this a little bit, but “conservative” attempts at American history films and TV shows are invariably hokey and kid friendly, the kind of thing you can watch with your grandmother and your 5 year old, and you’ll all be equally informed and bored by the experience.

We need R-rated adult-oriented American history stories. Daniel Boone should have his own series. It would be gritty and violent and not for children, but it would also be phenomenally entertaining and put an American legend back on the cultural map, so to speak. The fact that Daniel Boone hasn’t been depicted on screen at all since like the 60s is a travesty. Throw a dart at that guy’s Wikipedia page and you’ll land on something that could be its own feature length trilogy.

That’s just one example. How is there not a great R-rated movie or series about Antietam? Or Kit Carson? Or the Panama Canal? How does Theodore Roosevelt not have like 10 movies about different periods of his life?

You could go much farther back to pre-American history. A movie about Cortes’s conquest of Tenochtitlan would be tremendous and horrifying and fascinating, and it would introduce into the public consciousness one of the world’s most incredible stories that most Americans know next to nothing about. And on and on.

The possibilities are literally endless. All of these movies, if they’re executed to even a B+ level, could make hundreds of millions of dollars and transform the culture in a way that a million podcast monologues never could. If the Right actually wants to reclaim the culture, this is the place to start.

At one point during the 2024 election cycle, Trump was promoting a massive "Great American Fair" for the 250th anniversary. He proposed the Iowa fairgrounds for it and promised each state their own pavilion

I was really excited about this idea. The 1893 World Fair (celebrating 400th anniversary of Columbus discovering America) was a massive event, years in the making. It's covered by history books.

I knew that 2 years was not really enough time to make something that tremendous happen, but I had hoped that Trump might push forward that vision and that some passionate people might bring it to fruition. I hoped to travel to it this summer with my kids.

What a wonder it would have been, to see each state proudly represent itself to have a grand event that brought us all together for a singular moment.

It's awful that such a grand idea has eroded into this sad display.

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, I really don't think you can overstate the level of urgency the Kentucky staff should feel when it comes to Milan Momcilovic.

Landing him is, in my opinion, the ONLY chance to have a season that would resemble "understanding the assignment."

The offers need to be LARGE and AGGRESSIVE. Can you get him to pull out of the NBA Draft process? Commit today? Tomorrow?

This isn't a situation where there is a Plan B, C, D, etc. Momcilovic changes the outlook of 2026-2027 completely. To me this should be an all hands on deck SPRINT to get the deal DONE.

Everyone knew ncaa tournament expansion to 76 was inevitable. Almost nobody wants it. Those trying to argue its merits are gaslighting you. I’ve written it many times — it’s a lousy development that contributes to the erosion of what makes college sports great.
