World Challenge at Bolton School Girls' Division at @BoltonSch - an independent day school for students aged 0-18, located in Bolton, Greater Manchester
✨️ Sri Lanka 2025 ✨️
On our last night, the girls wanted to come down to the beach to watch the sunset - a beautiful photo, a fantastic two weeks, and wonderful students.
Going to the bakery for breakfast has become routine here - it's delicious and thousands of rupees under budget allowing the students to have nicer lunches and dinners 🥐 Mr Hitchin especially loves a vegetable samosa for breakfast!
Sri Lanka has around 1600km of railway line (quite a lot bearing in mind the island is 430km from top to bottom)…… and nearly every time we have seen a railway line, somebody has been walking along it!
After a lovely morning of free time for shopping (and a chance for the students to have some independence from staff!), the girls are now enjoying a yoga class in the middle of the jungle 🌴 ❤️
The charity which organised the primary school project have sent us the video below, showing just how much we achieved while we were there - gardening, painting, cementing, constructing steps, renovating….. you name it! The girls did an incredible job…

What. A. Success. Our girls really threw themselves 100% into this activity, and the food was fantastic! We were also treated to buffalo curd and treacle made from palm trees as dessert!
Crushing garlic with a traditional granite pestle and palm-tree mortar, stirring the chicken curry and the veg, cracking open the coconuts and grating the inside! What a brilliant evening!
We are learning how to make traditional Sri Lankan curry and rice tonight and attempting to make it ourselves. Wish us luck, as whatever we make is our only dinner option!
