As I’m submitting grades for report cards, a student (who has been a thorn in my side all year) received a 68.7 overall. I usually do NOT round grades up but depending on behavior, I could be swayed.
No way am I giving him the satisfaction of 69.

@steadyriot I think he hits the ice first and bounces into the boards, versus throwing him into the boards. Rules seem vague in this. Its the discrepancies and judgment coming into play. I wouldn’t be mad either way it was called tho, can see the gray area for sure.
@steadyriot Also, what constitutes “close to boards” since there is no tape measure number in the rule. If I were 10 feet away but checked a guy hard enough to fall back and end the fall into the boards, then is it still boarding? To me the boards have to actually play into the check
@steadyriot It’s all discretionary, but if he prepared himself for the hit instead of leaving his feet and flying into the air, hitting ice, then sliding to boards… we’re talking about nothing. Skinner slows up to try and avoid the hit, playing the puck was more important.
@steadyriot Yes but doesn’t the player have to be “unexpecting” it? Also the level of severity into the boards plays into it, which I didn’t was as severe because skinner wasn’t ready for the hit despite looking it dead in the face
@steadyriot Shoved to the ice, bounces to the boards… more concerned about playing the puck and wasn’t ready for a hit imo. Of course puck is life but uh… maybe getting trucked should be next on the list.
