Protecting the integrity of #BSL. We expose fake #signlanguage training, fake charities and orgs that claim to teach ”sign language” using total gibberish.
Not quite sure why the @PlayTeamRLH is showing side-by-side videos of Makaton and BSL. Are they suggesting Makaton has its own signs? It’s important to remember Makaton signs are derived from British Sign Language (BSL). #BSL#RespectBSL

It’s disheartening to see them learning Makaton rather than British Sign Language. I really hope the staff will let them watch the Old Hands New Tricks documentary tonight and realise that BSL is key for them.
Looking forward to watching this documentary tonight!
Just a heads-up: please don't comment "I know Makaton"
British Sign Language is a real language, while Makaton is not. Let’s keep the distinction clear!
@AdamCSchembri My deepest condolences to you and your family. I lost my mother last December so I can fully appreciate how you must be feeling. It is a huge void indeed. Thinking of you.
@MakatonCharity Hey, can you tell everyone that Makaton is not a language again? Recently some tweets mention Makaton is #SignLanguageWeek but it is not.
We are extremely excited and humbled to share that today over 223,000 primary school pupils, from across 1,350 schools, took part in todays Signature BSL lesson.
Thank you to all those who joined in the lesson we hope you enjoyed it.

We’ve launched our Professionals Community on Facebook! If you work with deaf children, join our group! It’s a space for professionals to come together and discuss topics linked to working with #deaf children https://t.co/XVvjKMF7zr #Audiology#Teachers#Education#HearingLoss
@BBCDerby Why can’t you find deaf children, see this? It’s only less than 5 mins away to Deaf school from @BBCDerby This is so lazy. Those poor hearing kids have absolutely no idea that what they’re signing is a load of rubbish. Well done(!), @BBCDerby 🤦🤦🤦
"Being in a Deaf school, the young people are surrounded by an environment where they can communicate. Everyone can speak to each other so it helps to develop their identity as well as their education" - Paul Burrows, Headteacher @RoyalSchoolDD#WorldHearingDay#BSL

‘I built the ladder, climbed it, but I don’t want to take the ladder with me. I want to leave it for other deaf people to climb up too’
@RoseAylingEllis tells @itsanitarani about her West End debut in As You Like It at @sohoplace and why she wants to see more deaf actors ⬇️
When a #deaf child is “doing well” at mainstream school, often their support gets taken away or reduced. This is outrageous. It is the support that enables the child to work on an equal platform and thrive. Mainstream #education is exhausting for deaf students to navigate alone.
