@malkeasaad You leave out the fact that the US is extremely litigious and that no malpractice insurance company will protect you for performing outside scope of practice.
Congrats to everyone who is embarking on their Neurology journey soon, and a warm welcome to these brilliant folks joining us. Looking forward so much to having you here!

@jbcarmody Make the Match ranked choice voting + lottery. Students list preferred specialties in rank order. Specialties fill available slots with top scores. If not matched to specialty, then drop down to next unfilled specialty. Lottery distributes student within specialty. Interviewless.
@jbcarmody One way to control application costs is to reduce applications. An application cap for all should reduce costs to applicants and focus applications to programs in which they are actually interested. This will stop interview hoarding. This is good for applicants and programs.
@jasonryanmd One metric that residency programs are judged by ACGME is the percentage of their graduates that pass specialty board exam on first try. Step scores highly correlate with board exam success.
@jasonryanmd What metrics do you suggest be used to evaluate applicants? The metric should be validated as relevant to success as a resident. Applicants are competitive, and I believe any metric used would become high stakes. Step2 Score and Advanced Degree have been validated in studies.
@minhaj_areeba When candidates apply to 40 residency programs, programs need to have an algorrhythm for interviewing high likelihood candidates. If applications per candidate capped at 10 programs, then the interview math would change.
@AmnaFarooq7 If you have high board scores or did a sub-I at the program, then signals are important. If you have low board scores, and you have never visited the program or done a sub-I at the program, then the signal may actually act as an anti-signal (your program is my safety).
