A lot of coaches talk about players being able to "be comfortable being uncomfortable."
The #1 way we have challenged our guys to do this is to
get past scared,
get past insecure,
get past frustration,
and get past fatigue!
We think we are missing out on a lot by sleeping but, in fact, we are missing out on a whole lot by not sleeping. Sleep is one of the most productive things we can do
Sport coaches: Do not try to make up for lost time during the first days/weeks/month of the fall semester by throwing too much at your team. Meet them where they are at and have patience in the process of returning them to sport. The time away might have actually helped them.
Players must trust their coaches & coaches better have some players they can trust. Trust is like your bank account. The more you deposit, the more it grows. Players, coaches trust you through WORK, EFFORT and reliability. Players trust FAIR coaches who practice what they preach.
The more I coach the more recognize that basketball is a game of confidence. I can give my kids plays, footwork, advice, love, none of that matters if I dont help them find their confidence. They have to be willing to put the work in to GAIN that confidence but Im here to help!
Football please stop using the word "grind"! It is hard work mentally and physically but if you love it, you're self-motivated, you care about teammates - it's a privilege, not a grind. Have fun & enjoy it. Not everyone gets to experience it and those that do miss it forever
I have put together a list of 22 ACL papers from the last 10 years (including full text links) that have shaped my clinical practice. See link below 👍
Do you have any other papers that have shaped yours? If so, let me know in the comments below 🙏
