👩‍🏫 25 students to 1 teacher. That’s Socorro ISD’s current student-teacher ratio for kindergarten through fifth grade, while Pre-K is 22-to-1. The state requires a 22-to-1 ratio for Pre-K through fourth grade.

Teacher availability directly impacts classroom ratios and class sizes. Socorro ISD estimates approximately 100 positions would need to be filled to bring classroom sizes down to TEA standards.

Proposition A includes $9 million to hire teachers to reduce class sizes.

💻 Socorro ISD maintains 41,500 student devices that require regular updates and replacement.

Older devices become harder to update, and keeping them in circulation longer can lead to increased downtime, maintenance costs and reduced instructional efficiency.

Proposition A includes $8 million for student devices, including funding to replace devices that are past their useful life.

Proposition A would provide additional resources for locally identified priorities across Socorro ISD, including teacher and staff compensation, student programs, safety and security, student devices, and HVAC and bus replacements.

House Bill 2 creates new revenue for the district, but it does not provide enough to sustain operations. Proposition A would help close the gap and provide resources for these district priorities.
