It's worth discussing because it is very rare for major companies to respect original releases when remakes or remasters are made, Sega in particular is really bad at it, with the original versions Yakuza 0, Yakuza 3, Sonic Generations, and others all being delisted in favor of newer versions or in some cases no version at all.
That's not to say the exact same thing will happen to Persona 4 Golden, but delisting isn't the only thing to consider, as publishers and developers approach these new versions as the definitive experience regardless of what the actual result and quality is. This actually already happened considering vanilla Persona 3, Persona 3 FES, and vanilla Persona 4 are not available on modern platforms and will likely never be in a conventional manner.
You could even go a step further to say that the reason we got low effort ports of the mobile versions of these games was to make future remakes look more appealing in the inevitable direct comparisons, which is what happened with Persona 3 Reload, and is already beginning to happen with Persona 4 Revival.
It's just how it is with remakes that aren't perfect, which they rarely are, and it's something you can see across the industry, new game comes out, company sweeps the original under the rug, fans argue, and any player with standards that is playing for a reason other than a game being new and shiny loses.
It's unnecessarily divisive for audiences and disrespectful to the original experiences that were popular enough to cause this kind of commotion in the first place, and it's why you see this kind of discussion come up with most major remakes/remasters regardless of availability.
Why do people always act like games getting remade means the original stops existing like p4g is on steam right now man nobody is stopping you from still playing it
Naoto being a woman is the kind of plot-point that's nearly impossible to not spoil because of extended media and online presence, it's a one and done kind of thing.
It's up there with Wesker being the villain of Resident Evil 1, the Reapers existing in Mass Effect, and there being a modern day plot in Assassin's Creed.
Will give Atlus some credit though, if you tried to go in blind her presence and the twist around her sex isn't spoiled in most of the instructional or promotional material for P4. P4G, P4D, or P4R, the only exception I could find at a glance is the P4D website.
Basically, if you're online talking about this game, it's already over.
No one should be "baffled" that the Japanese broadcast cut these, they've been cutting these kinds of announcements and replacing them with games that are easier for the Western markets to consume.
Your average American Nintendo consumer isn't the primary demographic for franchises like Touhou, Steins;Gate, and even Atelier, and isn't likely to engage with them beyond saying they've played them for credibility online.
The real baffling event was Capcom casually announcing Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen after nearly a full year of silence.
Nintendo fans have discovered that a Switch 2 game was cut from the English Nintendo Direct
The Touhou 6 remake was only shown on the Japanese broadcast leaving fans baffled

Every time Street Fighter tries to introduce newer characters they either fumble or get major pushback from players, so it's always going to be a toss up on whether or not you're going to see new characters, and overall chance is worse with four characters a year to pick.
It would surprise me if SF6 got more than another 2 original characters before content support ends, unless they change up the DLC cadence for SF6 and do more characters a year.
But it's likely you're going to be waiting until SF7 to get a higher amount of new original characters.
While not quite on the same level as companies like Capcom, Sega, Square, and Arc Sys who have those insane "Customer Harassment" policies, this is a disappointing move in the wrong direction.
Most fighting games are heading to this unfortunately, something invited, knowingly or unknowingly, by the community, even if they didn't really show up for City of the Wolves.
Which makes this surprising that SNK thought this was necessary when there's barely any movement for the game on these platforms that isn't from official accounts, comparatively anyway, but maybe that's the point.
