Sue Kim wanted to include more of BLACKPINK’s songs and music videos in Always Lalisa, especially from Lisa’s trainee years, so audiences could hear what she sounded like as a member of the group. But despite their best efforts, they weren’t allowed to license the music or footage from her previous label, so they couldn’t include it. Kim said that was their only interaction with Lisa’s previous label and that they weren’t able to include the small amount of K-pop history she wanted to bring into the film.
